Customized Marbles Boot Knife

Post by orvet »

After the Camillus auction in 2007 or 2008 the web was flooded with unfinished knives blades. Some of more just stamped out the blades sometimes with the tang stamp sometimes without. Probably half of them were at least partially finished ground heat-treated blades. That makes it much easier to complete the knife if the blade is already been heat-treated and ground.

This blade was grounded and hardened when I got it but it needed some work in terms of polishing it up and of course it had no handle.
I used nectarine colored RJB for the handles and I used Mosaic pins from Sally at Provision Forge: https://customknife.com/

The biggest challenge was figuring out how to make a clip on boot/belt sheath.
This is the first sheath like this I have made. I already know several things I'm going to do differently on the next one.
Yes, it is unsharpened at this point because I'm still waiting for parts of my 1 x 72 belt sander. Hopefully they will be here tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy the pictures!
Dale

That is beautiful CSB on it. I thought it was actually stag. It's got great color...and the sheath is great.

That is beautiful! Great choice on handle material - that really sets off the look of the whole knife!

I just wanted to personally thank Dale for the opportunity to own this stunning boot knife. I'm still a newbie in collecting, so to acquire such a unique piece and a custom made sheath...well I'm in heaven!
Pictures posted here are great, but to see it in person, WOW! ::super_happy::
