Re: Case doctor knife
According to the Case tang stamp chart, the knife is from 1914-1920. Great bone handles, fantastic condition for it's age. No definitive comment as to snap. I expect it will go for well North of the current $191.38 .

I agree. Looks like the gen-u-wine article. Will be interesting to see what it sells for.

To me this knife has some peculiarities. Please note peculiar does not equal wrong. Annotated pictures describe what I see as peculiar.
Re: Case doctor knife
Jerry here is one in poor condition. Master marked with standard Case Tested XX, Pen with Case XX Tested in oval. Same diamond shield as OP knife. Pull on pen blade on the outer side. Only pic I have.

Re: Case doctor knife
Harold, thank you for providing your 6282. It highlights a few more peculiarities:
1. It appears to show a variation in the the lower bolster to the knife in question.
2. It shows a variation in jigging as well.
3. Your knife has the oval mark instead of the circle mark. (The round/circle mark is very uncommon in my experience).
4. The size, shape, and proportions of the blades on your example look more typical to me. This could be a camera angle thing with the pictures of the original knife.

Re: Case doctor knife
I believe that the OP knife is 100% correct. I also believe that it was a contract knife made by Utica for Case. Therefore it will have many details of the tooling, swedges, etc. that are different from a knife made by Case in house.
I have one in a different pattern (peanut) - will post pics tomorrow.
