Suspicous Case Tested knife

Post by 98src »

Does this knife look correct? Sargent's catalog doesn't show a 61031SH ( a o31SH with bone handles )

Robo,
I would not have bought because I didn't think it was correct. I just mentioned it to see if others agreed with me.

That blade just doesn't look right in that frame, does it? The blade has virtually no wear and the handles have wear. At the least it is suspicious. I would not have bid on it.

These are initial reaction comments rather “thoughtful study” comments. The blade steel looks modern to me. The Case Tested XX stamp looks modern and not factory original.

Frame looks good but the blade isn't. Could be a good 6231 frame converted to a single with a bad blade transplant.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

The blade has an East Tenn. fake stamp--the "C" comes around and touches the top of the "A"--dead give-a-way
