Strange Schrade
I could not find a frame in the old catalogs that corresponds, with the hump in the middle, four inch. I could not find a single instance of that shield. No trace of that blade combination. Never seen that saw blade before; maybe English or German. The two knife blades are unfamiliar but look somewhat worn. The only thing about this knife that says "Schrade" to me is the peach seed bone. Would someone actually counterfeit this knife? a One-off? What is it?

Re: Strange Schrade
I am wondering about this one myself.
It's very unusual but it does not jump out to me as being cobbled or fake.

Re: Strange Schrade
I came to this corner of AAPK to see if anyone was talking about this knife.
I was curious about the same things mentioned here. The saw would look at home in a modern SAK and I think it's unprecedented just having three full size blades in the knife. Schrade had balloon patterns in their catalogs - whittlers, a jack, etc. Nothing that looked like that and nothing that size. That's a 4" knife but Schrade Cut Co balloons were all in the 3.5" neighborhood. If it was a sample room knife, where'd the frame come from? Is it possible that (modern looking) saw blade was welded to the tang it's sitting on? The two other blades have worn tangs, not that shiny saw. Also, the saw is centered so the two blades come down on either side of it - so why isn't the nail mark on the pile side of that - oh yeah, what is that anyway, a lambsfoot blade(?) - I'll stick with that...why is the lambsfoot nail mark not on the back of the blade and why is it sitting as high as it is in the frame with most of the kick filed off? Maybe a toothpick or two in there for the photo shoot? I'm curious what the inside of the knife and the springs look like.
However, I'm questioning my instinct on it because it's got 30 watchers at the moment, 7 of whom are actively bidding. Everything about it feels wrong - I think I'll just sit back and watch the bids climb..

Re: Strange Schrade
One usually can get more 'information' with a knife in hand than from looking at pictures of the knife. The seller knows knives well and is a member here.
Perhaps he will post here and let us know how it seems to him ?

52 watchers / 14 bidders with 2 days to go. I really hope whoever "wins" comes here to quell the doubters (myself included) but every time I look at that knife it looks less and less like a Schrade. I think the tangs are Schrade - but the rest of it, not so much.

That's a cool knife!
I was asked to post a photo of my new Schrade USA buzz saw trapper here, so here it is, with the toothpick and tweezer removed.

Re: Strange Schrade
I agree that the buzzsaw is a great knife but I have to ask what's the correlation with the knife the OP is talking about? They both have a saw but there's no connection beyond that. Assuming the ebay knife is legit, it's 6 or 7 decades older than the buzzsaw. I hope I don't sound like I'm giving you a hard time - that's really not my intention, but for someone to ask you to come here and post a picture of your knife (instead of just grabbing a pic from google and doing it themself?) they must have had a point they were making and I'm not seeing it. If you know what it is could you share it?

Re: Strange Schrade
Hi Jason. I asked him (ken98k) to post the picture. Why? Because of what tongueriver said in the original post. I didn't intend to have a big deal made out of it. It's just a picture. It was meant strictly for saw blade comparison. If I did anything wrong, I apologize and I'll turn myself in for severe disciplinary action later.jxr1197 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 6:37 amI agree that the buzzsaw is a great knife but I have to ask what's the correlation with the knife the OP is talking about? Re: Strange Schrade
The 97OT was posted to show what a Schrade saw blade looks like. As for OP knife being 70 or more years older, blade profiles are often unchanged from decades ago. However i do not know of a Schrade Cut Co pattern with a saw blade.

Skip, who let you out of the zoo? I'm incredibly offended but just send me some knives and we'll call it even.New_Windsor_NY wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 3:37 pmI apologize and I'll turn myself in for severe disciplinary action later.
There's nothing wrong with the post - I was trying to not sound like that's where I was going. It struck me as curious because I thought it was information about about subject knife and I just wanted to see it from the angle of the person presenting it - that's all. Thanks for the answer.

Same here - and of course therein lies the skepticism I'm having. If it's legit count me among the people who want to know more about it.kootenay joe wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 4:00 pmHowever i do not know of a Schrade Cut Co pattern with a saw blade.

The seller is a super nice guy who knows his knives. Can’t see him intentionally selling a fake. I have bought several knives off him in the past.

Re: Strange Schrade
Hi Guys, The knife is mine, I appreciate your concerns. First off, anything I sell comes with an unconditional money back guarantee. I see no signs that this kine was ever taken apart or monkeyed with. It has Schrade peachseed bone, all blades are marked Schrade Cut Co Walden NY, including the saw. It could have been put together by a factory worker, who knows?? It was used a lot & has a chip in the bone. If it was made a counterfeit don't you think they would have used full blades? I never saw one like it in 30 years, but I see things I never saw pretty often

Re: Strange Schrade
There were quite a few bidders but the winner only bid once, with 5 seconds left. i.e. there were a few people who really wanted this knife and likely all are Schrade collectors who must have thought this knife is genuine. That said i see $432 as on the high side for any used Schrade Cut Co. knife. When time comes for the new owner to sell, it will be interesting to see how much he gets for it.
