Remington Purina Knife

Post by just bob »

This is my favorite knives of all so when I see one I tend to take notice of them. Look at the master blade on this. It has a different tang stamp than the blade beside it, which I think is original. Master blade also has had considerable reworking of the tang and choil area on both sides. The seller notes the blades have weak snap. Maybe a good reason for that? Also appears the seller is from the heart of knife country.

Not the only bad knife for sale by this seller. Looks like some welding to me.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

I seem to recall reading somewhere some information about how to differentiate between an authentic Purina advertising knife made by Remington versus those made by others. I’m not sure but I think it was in the old Knife World several years ago. Unfortunately I can’t find it and don’t remember the details. I think it has something to do with placement of the checkerboard pattern on the handles on an authentic Remington versus other makers? ::shrug::

Thanks Bob, that’s likely where I saw it. You’ve saved me the trouble of searching the Knife Magazine archives. ::tu::
