Rodgers navy knife

Post by Hammie-bowie »

Hey there. Today I saw this for sale and I’m wondering about it’s authenticity.

I’ve seen a few other knives on the internet with the very same engraving layout (21306 on a side and the crosses, Rogers and Sheffield on the other) but the font on this one seems so thick and really annoys me, although I’m unfamiliar with the matter.

Thanks in advance!

Knife looks authentic to me from here. I think those numbers are actually someone's military ID--I have seen several with these IDs written on them.

The USN used 7 digit Service Numbers before they switched over to SSNs, could be the last or first 4 digits. I don't know what foreign services used but I would think 7 digits would be a minimum unless they used alpha-numerics.
