W.R Case Sunfish
W.R Case Sunfish
Is there any way that the scales are correct on this knife?

They say the backside handle has been replaced. Looks to me as if both sides are identical so if one has been replaced, maybe then both have? Maybe Tom will see this and comment.

I would tend to take the seller’s word on the handles. The jigging is different on the front and rear handle. The rear looks like it was probably jigged with a dremel tool, also the worm groove is different on the back and the handle installation appears different as well. Whoever did it made it look pretty good. Just not original.

I'm no sunfish expert, but is the choil cut a little big on the small blade?

Pretty safe bet it didn’t come from the factory like that.

That one throws up too many "red" flags for me, thought maybe it was one of Sporty's.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

I have noticed on the WR's made by Napanoch, that the choils on the pen blade is overly big.I have a couple that look like that.

Thanks. I didn't know that Napanoch made knives for Case.

Front Looks OK, Back Looks like someone copied the front. Its would be unusual to have the "Y" shaped worm groove on both sides. the worm grove would be more random. Not sure if Napanoch Made Knives for WR case after they Moved to Bradford. But For sure they made them in the Pre 1905 Era especially the WR case and Son or wr case little valley mark. There may have been some run over where Nap. made a few knives with the "sons" mark.
I have one knife marked Son on one blade and Sons Bradford on the other.
535 is steep for a replaced back handle, almost impossible to fix correctly Old bone is tough to come by and hard to make it look correct.
