Suspect XX 6318
Suspect XX 6318
Here is the knife in question:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/114807729581?
This one doesn't sit well with me, primarily because of the tang stamps. They look like they were made with those deals one taps with a hammer, especially the pattern number. Maybe I've not seen enough of them, but that seems rather slipshod for Case. Are my concerns genuine or unfounded?

I don’t believe any part of that knife ever was inside a Case factory. Ever. What a cobbled mess - that’s not even an 18 pattern frame! Wrong blades, wrong grinds, wrong jigging, wrong.................. Just wrong.

That jigging alone is enough to turn my stomach.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

I own very few Case knives, and have never held one of that pattern.
But even I could tell that it is an across-the-room fake!
The choil grinds on that Master blade . . . I don't even know how to describe how bad they are. And you are right about the pattern number being hand stamped.
Not old bone at all - looks like it has been dyed two or three colors in an effort to make it look different.
The shield might be an actual Case shield, but nothing else looks right to me.
Good call on the OP!

And...the seller has revised the listing. Someone voiced their concerns that this is a cobbled-up hack-job. It would please me to no end to hear that that someone was a fellow AAPK member.

Re: Suspect XX 6318
The knife has 12 bids and is now bid up to $45 with four days to go. We should start a new game ,How high will the fake knife sell for.
Re: Suspect XX 6318
Good idea about selling price predictions. If the item description did not list the possibility of a fake it could really get interesting unfortunately.
The OP knife kind of reminds me of a Parker pattern.

How much time do you think someone spent concocting that knife?
