Etched NYK
I've been watching this one on ebay and don't know if it's legit or not. I don't like the etch or the finish on the blades? Thoughts guys??

Re: Etched NYK
The tang stamps look pretty bad to me, for an unused knife. I'm still a noob, but I wouldn't expect that from a reputable brand--and a salesman's sample.

Can't say that I like it. The etch looks more like it is inked on.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Re: Etched NYK
Pretty odd to see a NYK etch on a satin finished blade, they were most always done on a polished blade. Actually looks more like a scotch brite finish. No crisp shoulders either. You would think with the pitting on that tang stamp that there would be some rust involved, looks like it was scoured over.

Re: Etched NYK
I had an NYK small coke bottle with cocobolo covers that was mint and etched with a glaze finish. Mike, the seller also has a "salesman's sample" Challenge knife with the exact same finish so I would be very suspicious.

That tang stamp is really bad. Therefore I wonder if this knife is legit.

It’s a shame about the Challenge. It looks like it was a decent old knife before the artistry.

Looking at the tang, there is pitting that has been cleaned. He does nice work (including good close up pix). I would stay away from this seller. (Just my opinion)
