Re: wire knife
George Schrade made the wire jacks for Case but as far as I know none of them had a nail nick. You used the easy opener slot to grasp the blade. Looks more like a blade pulled from another knife but that's just my opinion as I'm by no means a Case expert.

Re: wire knife
Here is my legitimate Case, wire frame or wire jack, pocket knife.
Here is the link to the wirejack topic or thread.

There is a seller on eBay who is selling wire frame pocket knives
with a variety of blades that have a variety of tang stamps.
Theses pocket knives also have a "different" pivot pin.
These are NOT legitimate Schrade wire frame pocket knives.
ONLY the handle(s) are the legitimate Schrade parts. I don't know if
the blades are from legitimate pocket knives.
Of course, it could also be a pocket knife that somewhere in its history,
the owner broke two pocket knives and combined the remaining good
parts to make a functional pocket knife instead of buying another.

Re: wire knife
As Skip has pointed out the pivot pin looks to be wrong. There are no genuine wirejacks with a swedge and the long pull looks to narrow as it gets closer to the tang but that just might be a function of the camera angle.
Re: wire knife
The pull itself is wrong. The easy opener wire jacks were made without pulls. That blade was taken from another knife.

Joe you'd definitely be the one to know!
I just saw Bill Schrade last week, had a great chat about the old Bridgeport business. Jeez he's definitely got the knifemaking gene, his pullball knives are gorgeous!

Re: wire knife
I wish I knew as much as folks think I do. Bill offered me one of his pull balls but when I checked my account my heart fell. I had to pass on an absolutely superb looking knife. I’m in Connecticut often. The next time you speak with him ask if he knows where there might be an original wirejack wire bending machine.
Re: wire knife
Will do, now that'd be a find!
