Phil I'm with you on this. I always thought I was pretty smart about figuring this kind of stuff out eventually but ever since I got this new Samsung S8 active most of the pictures I take with it will with out rhyme or reason post sideways on AAPK so I have stopped posting pics from my phone. I have tried all the suggestions but none work and it doesn't happen when I post to Facebook or other sites only on AAPK. Something in AAPK software doesn't click with my phones software.philco wrote:I always move the photo from my phone to my PC but that does not stop it from flopping over on its side. The only way I can tell ahead of posting that it's going to happen is to upload it and then click "preview' to see how the picture will orient. I've got photos I'd love to post right now in the outdoors forum that I can't use because of this issue. I've tried to rotate them on my PC to offset the change in orientation that occurs here but it has not helped. I'm technically challenged on my best days and I've not been able to circumvent this detour even with all the help Jerryd has provided. Drives me nuts!
It's never an issue when I post photos taken with my Canon camera so I guess I just need to keep it with me at all times and forget using the camera on my phone.
Oh.... no offense taken Jerry..... What brought this thread about....jerryd6818 wrote: Mike there are a few threads on the subject in the 'Tips & Tricks' Forum but people don't read them. There have been several discussions and much research done on this issue with the results posted on the forum but people don't read. Reorienting them is a very easy thing to do but people don't read.
I got tired of putting information out there only to have it ignored so I started just flipping them right side up but if you do that it is just enabling because in addition to not reading people don't even try. So I quit doing that (mostly). I'm tired and I no longer care. No offense intended.
WOW.... that is a new one on me.... Thanks for that tip! I gotta go try that one out!TwoFlowersLuggage wrote:If you are in windows 7 or 10, and you open the picture with the built-in Windows viewer (just double click the picture), you can then rotate it left or right with one click. When you close the picture, the rotated picture is written to your hard drive.
I think some of the problem comes from people that post the picture to the forum directly from their phone. I never do that, I always move the picture to my PC, then post to the forum from my PC.
That is weird Phil.... Not saying it doesn't happen i'm just saying.... weird...LOL.philco wrote:I always move the photo from my phone to my PC but that does not stop it from flopping over on its side. You know... The problem just has to be from that CUTE LITTLE thing where you can turn your phone and the picture stays in the same orientation.gsmith7158 wrote: Phil I'm with you on this. Rofl! Now why didn’t I think of that!!!Meridian_Mike wrote:You really should 'a turned the pic slam up side down and that would REALLY make a head or 2 explode....Colonel26 wrote:jerryd6818 wrote:Gee thanks Cuz. I couldn't uh done it without ya.
LOL.
I've always been an advocate for a high voltage, low current "shock" eminating from the keyboard when the perpetrator hits "submit". The first time you get a warning. The second time, "bzzzzzzt"!Meridian_Mike wrote:OK.... my final shot across the bow.....
I am gonna be like Jerry said..... People don't read..... SO, even if there was a giant hand that would come out of your computer and slap you if you posted a sideways pic.....LOL.... some folks would not go read and find out WHY and HOW TO MAKE IT STOP.... They would just start ducking.j
