Fixed blade damascus w/ moose antler
I have had this knife blank for a while. I got it from Alabama Damascus.
I decided it was time to add some covers. I also had a piece of moose antler that I have had for a while. I figured maybe these 2 needed to get married....LOL.
I pinned the covers on with brass pins. With the roughness of the antler, it was a chore to do. AND, I put in 5 which took MORE time.
Here she is....
Thanks for looking everyone!

Great looking knife! Love the color on the antler, and the pins set it off nicley.

That’s a beauty Mike!
Was the knife blank originally drilled for 5 pins?

Mike, that there may be the best looking fixed blade of any kind that I’ve seen in years, maybe ever. Wow!

Nice looking knife. Has a bit of a Puma look to my eyes.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Yep, those blanks come from Alabama Damascus with 5 holes in the handle area.
I have done one other one with that blank that has tiger stripe maple. I drilled one forward hole and used 2 pins in that one.
That style of blade lends itself well to the "buckskiner" look. (I used to dabble in the "black powder" crowd.)
Thanks for the comment Jeff!

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments!
My intention with this knife was to give it an "old style" look. One that might fit in the 1800s time period.
It was a fun project.

Good job mike, likin that antler for sure. Is Alabama Damascus the same company as Bear mgc? I made my first knife with steel from Bear. They were selling large Damascus leftover pieces for $25. Enough to make a couple of knives. Congrats man, great piece!!

I don't think they are the same but they may be closely related.
Looks like both are in Jacksonville, AL.

Great job on that one!
I have purchased some Moose antler to try out. I hope that I can do half as well as you did with it!
