Re: John Lloyd slip joints
One of my favorites being I'm a lousy fisherman I can always brag on this one.

Sorry for the delay Roland. I don't know but I'll ask the next time we speak. Here's another stag beauty.kootenay joe wrote:Beautiful handles. Micarta ? How does he get the 2-tone colors ?

The last (at this time) are two sowbellies. An amber stag and an Nguni horn with an eagle head shield. Nguni is a type of South African cattle.

I don't know how you do it. I check Vince's site regularly and see new Lloyd's almost weekly, but i have yet to see one as 'perfect' as every one that you show. I think we must have seen them all, at least all the 'perfect' ones at least. Then again you post 2 or 3 more !
Beautiful knives you have.
By "perfect" i'm meaning the instant visual appeal. I get this for every one of the Lloyd's you have posted.

Re: John Lloyd slip joints
Thank you Roland but my only claim is to picking them out. Several were bought on the secondary market so it's not as if I have a monopoly. It is a pleasant surprise when one pops up for sale at a fair price as this beauty did last month. It is definitely one of my favorites and as John explained the tang stamp indicates that it is CPM154, an added bonus.

This last one looks a bit like the Remington/GEC pattern #23. Does it have a flush & square joint ?

Re: John Lloyd slip joints
Just received this beauty and it surpasses all my expectations. It's a 4 1/4" trapper in stacked leather, end cap and fish shield. Alone, with its leather buddies and fish shield buddies.

Re: John Lloyd slip joints
Another "Oh Wow !". Your collection of John Lloyd knives shows his work to be as fine as knife makers whose prices are 3-4 times as much. Your John Lloyd knives are amazing.

Re: John Lloyd slip joints
Yeah this one is real special Roland. I agree with your opinion. The first Lloyd I ever bought was that Richlite LC that the seller badmouthed. It's as good as any I own.
Re: John Lloyd slip joints
First new Lloyd in a while after downsizing. It's a Lanny's Clip in stag that's 3 15/16" closed. I'm the second owner.

Very nice! I like the finish on the blade and bolsters. What is the blade steel on that beauty?

Excellent Lanny's Clip. John Lloyd's workmanship & knives are as good as with knives cost 3-4 times as much. You have so many super fine knives made by Mr. Lloyd.
