Special order

Post by Oledadsknives »

I have a friend that ordered 5 railroad spike knives and sheaths for Christmas presents last year so here are pics of how they turned out. I bought the sheaths and made the knives to fit.

Very cool, I have seen the forging of such knives in one of the Forged in Fire series. What is the steel of these railroad spikes?

Eustace, a carbon steel that hardens to about 50-55 hrc. A real fun project for sure!

Here are some letter openers I made from cut nails also to resemble the railroad spike.

Thanks treefarmer, colonel and Mike. They can get challenging for sure. Wore my little a— out that week I made em. I did one a day roughing them out and then ground and polished all in 2 days. He was very happy with them at $65 a piece!
