Found an interesting Buck 303

Post by Beag1eGal »

Hi all. Hope you have had a great weekend.
Found a kind of, to me, unusual 303 Buck..
I have never seen one except in the 301's
Pretty excited. Pictures below.
Dates please?
Thank you.

I love the 3xx series Bucks. What makes this one unusual?

Not 100% sure, but I have only seen the 301's with all blades marked. I thought maybe there were 303's stamped the same way, but I had not seen one before.
I know 301's started first, made by Schrade and they had grooved bolsters.. really cool.
I like the size of the 303's myself so I was excited to find this one marked as it is knowing it is an older one, though not as old as the grooved bolster 301.

I think you are correct. Your 303 appears to be the second model 303 that Schrade made immediately following the grooved bolster model.

There should not be rivets through the bolsters but I think I see a rivet on the front bolster in your second picture. If that's the case then it must have been repaired somewhere along the line.

Railsplitter,
Thank you for the post. I think it is just shadow in my picture. I breathed on bolsters and cannot see any sign of pin in bolster.
I will try later to get better pictures.
Thanks

Did the first Schrade built Buck 303 come with grooved bolsters too? I have seen plenty of grooved bolsters on the Buck 301 but never seen a grooved 303. OH
Ps If anyone has a picture please post.

I think you're right, Bruce. I could have sworn I've seen a grooved bolster 303 before but I just did a pretty extensive search and came up empty handed.

Here's a thread on BF that might be useful: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/min ... 03.666583/
