Looks like "Gumfuddy" handles, (Case's version of handle material used during WWII). I have a Russlock with the same material, seems indestructable; nice knife, I think I probably need one.

Thanks. I’ve always liked the 64047 but retired a nice one that I had lightly carried when they started appreciating so much in value. I saw this one a while back, put in a bid and got it. Yes, those handles are Rough Black aka Gum Fuddy. It’s far from perfect but I’ve wanted one to carry and this fits the bill. As you can see it had some pitting but no blade loss. It makes a good EDC. If it had been in better shape I probably wouldn’t have it, and sure wouldn’t be packing it. ::facepalm::

Case brought the Gum Fuddy handles back a few years ago after it had been retired for many years - your Russlock would be one of those newer ones. And you’re right it’s pretty rugged stuff.

It's hard to beat the #49 for a perfect knife in my book. Just my opinion which is kinda' like noses, everybody has one. :)

I've got a pocket FULL right now. Practicing learning some wood carving, so I'm *whittling* my choices down. ::doh::
Left to right: SAK, Buck 55, Old Timer carver, Mastercarver whittler 2, Boker Congress.
Oddly, I find myself using the Old Timer the least, the Congress and Mastercarver the most.

I have that OT carver. Hardly ever comes off the shelf. Looked like the ticket but I prefer a stockman in my hand. Still looking for a whittler. Very nice Congress!

Brought my Buck 112 out of storage. What I did not like about totin' it
was the sheath. Too bulky and rode too high on the belt. A smaller nylon sheath
is working out much better. It's in for the fixed-blade(s) tonight.
Backed it up with a 32087 .....

Many Buck enthusiasts feel the same way about the sheaths Buck has been using in recent years, and yes they ride too high and are uncomfortable to wear, pretty much a universal opinion. I have bought a few old school low hanging sheaths for both 110 & 112 online, instead of using the newer sheaths. I really wish Buck would get a clue and return to the more popular and usable older style sheath.

I heard that last night NYC lit up the Empire State Building in red to honor the first responders.
Thought I would follow suit.
Yes, Pontiac did make a GTO wagon. These are '67, and a '69 GTO patrol car.<br />Here along with a PW 6347.
