You're too kind jmh, like seeing whatever you carry just as much. Thanks and I'll keep shooting it for you. Usually switch out every day or two, but that one has made it past several days. A score I picked up horse trading with Q, probably my favorite spear of all. Thanks again.

My Dad gave me a yellow-handled Eye Brand knife when I was a boy. I carried it for years before I lost it. I have had a soft spot for yellow handles ever since!

Pre 1993 Leatherman PST and a Boker Solingen 280 Whittler.


The Whittler is a "where have you been all my life" pattern. I thought they looked cool, but never really took interest in getting one. I had a big, bulky Rough Ryder I hated (about a half-inch bigger than this knife and twice as wide). Local knife store had this Boker for $30, and I snatched it up as soon as I could. I love the thick main, but extremely thin and flexible secondary blades. The thin blades have excellent cutting geometry for fine tasks.

I'm a creature of habit. I've carried the exact same kind of knife for 50 years. I only replace it when I lose one. I think I'm on my third or fourth. This one is about 8 years old and it's in my watch pocket every day. Buck 301 Stockman President's Model. It's dinged up, I sharpened it in a hurry a few times and didn't do a great job, it's gone through the washer, the wood doesn't match front and back any more because of wear; but it serves me well. This is the first one I've had that wasn't black and didn't have the hammer and bolt logo.

I think it is a fine thing that a particular knife has become a regular part of your life. While many like to rotate, relying on one only does provide a great simplification.
