This is from a website specializing in symbols that are used as emoticons.
Thunder Lightning bolt symbol
Lightning bolt symbol, aka thunderbolt text emoticon is used to convey things that may be shocking either electrically, or in a metaphorical sense. Lightning emoticon is even used to convey "lightning fast speed", as in Google Amp project that has a lightning bolt as it's symbol. It's hard to say how to correctly write ACDC band as text without a lightning symbol. Apperently the usual correct way is AC/DC but, of course, a lot of people text it as "ACDC", or "AC DC" as a result. In ACDC the lighting bolt sign probably stands for the loud sound of lightning thunder clap. They even have a song called "Thunderstruck" with a memorable chant "Thunder".
⭍ 🗲 ↯ ϟ these are also widely used.
You can even find lightning bolts in some of the text fonts in Windows.
I am not a programmer by any means at all but I see a lot of different symbols used in some programming languages and some of those remind me of lightning bolts.
Prior to 1920 Case used a stylized E on a Case XX stamp. From 1920 to 194 they use long tail Cs, three variations, and even use serif's on some letters and at one point spelled Case in cursive. They introduced the lightning S about 1980. In 1993 to 1999 they used a flowing long tail C with the letters the rest of the name Case and XX flowing along the curve of the C. Another variation of this was introduced in 2010.
This is not hard to validate, just go to the research section here on AAPK and look up the Case Knife Age Identification Page.
I don't think that Case Cutlery is in any way a fascist sympathizing organization or even a fascist sympathizing organization. They have used the stylized lightning bolt type S since 1980. Personally, I think it's was used because they were running out of distinctive stylized letter symbols that they had not used.
Methinks, to use a British idiom, this is "a tempest in a teacup."

Moore Maker 5213UDLB Double Lockback "Trapper" by Utica (but since the blades are at both ends, wouldn't that make it a Moose?) Factory Second. Got it for $32 as a result, from Moore Marketing, which is an individual selling the Moore Maker seconds on eBay.
Main reason--huge crack in the bone (I suspect it got dropped by someone at Utica; as you can tell--it's not a pin crack) on back scale (filled with resin) and some slight wobble on spey. Other than that, perfectly fine. Blades are sharpened well, and it unlocks just fine.
It is marked as being a second. No, no tangs stamps X'd out or ground off, but instead, a very subtle file mark on the pile side back liner; and decal on the box. This was bought for an EDC knife. I think with the wide blades, and 1095 carbon steel; it would make a quite fine hunting knife. And yes, that's mineral oil. Has to be a whole 3 ounce bottle worth on the knife!

Let’s move on please from the discussion about the lighting S that Case has used.
If we could all just learn that when people come on w/ things like this, it’s best to ignore it. That’s the one thing they can’t stand, being ignored.

The tang on the main blade is all that matters. Smaller knives like you have normally only have a circle stamp, no made in USA. Your knife is 24-33dlr110 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 4:02 amThank you Reverand, I thought that might be the answer.Reverand wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 1:33 amI have been told that I am an expert. If I'm looking at the chart right, the one on the main blade indicates 1924 - 1933.
The one on the small blade indicates 1921 - 1924.
So what is the real age of the knife. I'm no expert, but I know I'm in the right place to find one.
"Ex", which means 'a has-been'
"Spurt", which is 'a drip under pressure'!
Now, I am NOT too knowledgeable on Remington knives, but I have heard that they had a tendency to use up the parts that were on-hand. So if they had a box of pen blades on a shelf that were a year or two old, they would use them on new knives.
If that is the case, then your knife is authentic and the tang stamp on the Main blade is from the actual date of manufacture, and the small blade was "New Old Stock" that they were using up.
Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
I like the look of the stamp. I think it's cool. I also like the Nazi S and all kinds of symbols that look cool and hope we don't erase history or forget it or act like it's not there. My uncle fought Nazi's who tried to kill him and he stole a dagger off a dead one. One of the coolest knives you'll ever see. Love the design and look of it. What's wrong with appreciating historical relics and their symbols? Nothing. Nobody's offended here and you don't have to agree with the politics to appreciate the strength of the symbol. Never said offended, not offended if you don't agree fabulous, everybody can have their opinion and it's good to hear them. But I never called anyone names like ignorant or one looking for a reason to be offended because you couldn't offend me if you tried. I love discourse and encourage it. I don't try to shut it down and ignore the truth, openly discuss it and you might learn something.edge213 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 9:48 pmThe lightening S that Case uses has absolutely nothing to do with nazis.Madmarco wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 5:02 pmPerhaps if you had relatives that were murdered by the Nazis you wouldn't think the S was so "great". It's a good, well made, solid knife and the action is easy. I think the blade hole is as easy to use as the Spyderco hole. I looked it up, Ken. Actually it's been around for thousands of years with the earliest known symbol found being ten thousand years old. It's a symbol used in countries all over the world from hundreds or even thousands of years ago. It gets a bad rep from one little micro dot of history when used by Germany to signify the Nazi Party.ken98k wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 3:50 amHell, The Nazi party even stole the swastika! What arrived here from Mark (Sharpnshinyknives) was the most beautiful and well constructed Solingen made Hen&Rooster I've seen. I thought it might be extra well done as it was made to commemorate the company's 160th anniversary. Bright blue bone lightly jigged, set off by waterfall bolsters. Half stops for each blade; very tight runups. The shield is enameled providing an extra mark of excellence.
