Hey, I get it, Garry.
I certainly understand you having difficulties manipulating that stud, I was just saying that in my case it would likely work better for me because my fingers are short, and with the stud closer it's not as much of a stretch to operate it.
I'm getting a strong sense that your displeasure lies with the deviation from design and not so much the knife itself, (very perceptive, huh) and rightly so, you bought a Bob Lum designed knife you want a Bob Lum designed knife, I would too.
It's still a nice knife buddy far from being a lemon, try to not be too disappointed you're not alone, I get it.

Marco, your point was very clear and logical. Plus we are all built in different shapes, sizes, and thumb strengths.

Got another G. Schrade's Stainless Stell Hunting & Fishing Knife out of the shallow end of the bay. This one is not as nice as the others I have, the lock doesn't work and the blade shows wear, half stop is great.

Nothing special, but the model is my favorite and the manufacturer is interesting.

"Special" is in the eye of the beholder, Eustace, and my eye finds your Pradel VERY special.
Simple sleek and not stupidly expensive, what's not special?

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
Thanks Marco! I really like this single blade model, I think you call it jack knife.
But why do you call it Pradel?
Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
I like that one, too! Are those wood covers?

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
I'm a single blade guy too, Eustace!
I don't own a knife that has more than 1 blade, I'm quite partial to how one blader's look.
Although I'm certain multi-blade knives have a definite purpose, any of my activities don't require one.
I referred to your knife as a "Pradel" from pictures of French knives I've seen online and on our forum here.
I believe if you search "Pradel" plenty of posts will come up and you can see for yourself. I've also heard them described as "Shephard's jack knives".
Lots of folks besides you and I like them!
Hope that answers your question!
EDIT: It seems I'm wrong with my info, Eustace.
Upon doing the search I suggested to you, the posts are stating that Pradel is the brand and NOT the style. Man, they sure had me fooled!
So, I guess my post should have read, "my eye finds your JACK KNIFE VERY special, is it a Pradel make?
My apologies if this caused you any problems.

Looks special to me, Eustace! Very nice!

Well, that's not too bad, Rick, from first viewing to in my hand in less than 3 weeks, and that includes a week wasted sitting in Customs!Madmarco wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 11:55 pm I'm sorry, Rick, you posted where you got it in your OP, guess I was so excited I overlooked that.
This puts me in the driver's seat, when the company was Risner they wouldn't ship to Canada, but now that they're Traditional they will!
They're far more reasonably priced than the J/W knives, and they come with spear-point, wharnie, or sheepsfoot blades, and 1 or 2 blade models as you stated.
Did you see the "Sold Out" Titanium models, WOW!
Thanks for the help buddy, I'll be buying mine soon!
I originally ordered the spear-point model, but no sooner had I clicked-on the "Buy" button than I contacted Austin and requested he change it to the Wharncliffe model, which he was glad to do for me; now you tell me where else can you get Customer Service like that, especially for an online purchase where the sellers usually hate making changes, if they'll do it at all!
6 3/4" oal Ohio River Jack with an M390 Wharncliffe blade, Titanium bolsters, SS back spring and pins, and black canvas micarta covers. I'm gonna say right now, I bet that once I get to handle a Jack Wolf knife I'll be reminded of this knife!
Thanks for posting yours, Rick, so I could discover them and eventually post mine!

This came in the mail today. I’ve been watching it on the bay quite a while but the price was too high. I made an offer and the accepted so I’m very pleased. Schatt and Morgan Moose( at least that is the style that I see) great snap, though I think half stops would have been a good addition.

Out of curiosity, is that the Railsplitter frame?
