Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
A good friend had shown me this knife a while ago and I immediately ask if it was for sale. The answer was no as it was one of his favorite knives and in excellent condition. Sense then I have continued to inquire about it and finally the answer was to ask what I thought it was worth. I gave my answer as an at least price, he responded with a price and we were able to come to a dollar amount satisfactory to both of us. It is a Schrade 863 KON-KAV in wonderful condition. The handles are bone!!! More than I've ever paid for a 72 style knife but excited to get to house it for a while. I will post more pics in the 72 clone thread. How do I feel about this one?
Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
Half the knives in this group were super-cheap junk. Those I just packed away; as to actually have some POS knives for the POS Exchange. One turned out to be an automatic (Super Knife USA that doesn't lock shut); which may explain why the seller sent them FedEx.
Here's some good ones.
The Poorman (actually, that's the tang stamp!) Pakistani Folding Hunter I viewed as a POS, but it's not. Handles are horn, brass bolsters, and it's surprisingly well put together. Will definitely be carried and used.
Schrade USA CH8. Rust, filthy, and a beat up blade. Missing (supposedly non removable) pocket clip, but one of the older removable variety intended for the CH-7 will snap right in once I take out the screw that held the old clip. Should clean up into a nice beater.
Pierre Cardin by Richartz Solingen. Brand new, never used.
Smith and Wesson USA Sportsman Series Shooter's Tool. This is an original USA-made knife from the 1970s; not a Taylor remake. Blade has some tiny chips in it, which should sharpen out. Worth the $30 I paid for this lot alone. Why I bought it too.
SOG Micron II. Has some lock issues, which I suspect are due to it being FILTHY. If it's something else, I'll send it to SOG and get a warranty replacement.
They were also packed in a pretty sturdy Estee Lauder zipper bag. That will definitely be put to use once I clean it out. It's better made than those actually made for tools.
