Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
A new Collectibles Shop opened up in the little town just north of me. Great little shop, with all kinds of collectibles and his prices were really good, including knives. He had only three displays of knives but said he had more that he hasn't brought out yet. I will be checking in on him. These two came home with me. Needless to say, I will be visiting him often.
First a Later Double line Camillus 1047 Scout Whittler. Great shape, no cracks in the handle, blades have great snap and doesn't appear to have been put on a stone since from the factory. The only thing I've done is oil the joints and wipe it down. Next, I picked up this Camillus Sword Brand, pattern 14 Serpentine Jack. It has the Sword Brand Tang Stamp on the mark side of the main blade and the four line Camillus Cuttlery Co. tang stamp (which was used from 1941 to 1946) on the pile side. The blades do have some stains and pits, the main blade has weak snap, the secondary pen blade has great snap, and no blade wobble with either. No cracks in the handles, and has the federal shield. I plan on giving it the warm mineral oil sauna treatment and flush it out. See if it helps the snap any.

I've been lucky so far in that all my knives with weak snap got much of it back with a little oil. The sauna treatment is something I'll have to look into.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Hello all,
Brand new here.
I recently discovered this high quality vintage 3” pocket knife. I cannot identify what brand or anything else about it. It’s a 2 blade plus leather punch in very nice condition.
Has 3 brass liners and pins used. Nicely finished and uses some kind of Mother of Pearl with a Shield inlayed. I am guessing it’s from the 50’s to 60’s.
Main Blade has 1882 and Blue Steel on bottom, with Razor Steel ghosted into side of blade.
Would really like to know more about
Thanks.

Blue Steel (青鋼)is known as the highest sharpness and durability. Above the level of White Steel, Blue Steel contains smallest impurities as well as additional chrome and tungsten which makes the knives strong to wear and tear. With this mixture, Blue Steel is an ideal material for Japanese cutlery products.

I heard you have to put heavier foundation under your house to take the weight of all the pocket knives you have purchased lately.
Hope you are keeping healthy and getting through this pandemic alright.

Is quite impressive. Must be from the Japan of the 1960’s I would therefore presume. Copy of an American brand?

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Got these in Snow Hill, MD yesterday. Been avoiding the trick knife for 2 years because I have quite a few, but felt sorry for it lying in a box of cheap, broken knives. Think it's IMPERIAL but only has patent numbers. The 5" melon tester is ULSTER, US2, Stainless. . Don't understand the "US2" mark?

Considering the logo it bears, maybe it is also an apple tester? Whatever the case, you found yourself a couple of nice knives!

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Found this IMPERIAL, Prov., R.I., USA, boy's hunter in darn near perfect condition this morning in New Church, VA. Don't know when they stopped making them. I know they were around in the 50's and 60's. I've had a few. Any collector of such things can get it from me. I only grabbed it because it's as near mint as it can be.(Any marks you see on the blade are only reflections, not blemishes.) Saber ground mark side, shell handle, and a little plastic sheath that probably kept it from staining. Not my area of collecting. Anybody interested PM me. J.O'.
