Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Sometimes a knife catches your eye. I was looking at case full of interesting stuff at the local antique store today and noticed this "thing" because of the handle material. Wrote down the case number and overheard some one ask for the key to that case, so I eased back to see what was going on. Another feller was interested in some fixed blades and I asked to see this pocket knife:
The knife is about 3 5/8" closed. The back springs are not full length, only about 1 1/2" long.
Anyone familiar with this one and the company name? Treefarmer
I'm not too attracted to this type knife but went ahead and bought it. Internet search of S.C.O.F. leads me on a wild ride to French table wear, haven't seen this pattern of knife mentioned, yet. The horn handles caught my eye as well as the threaded bolster and shackle that seem to be nickel silver. Liners are brass, all the blades and tools seem to be stainless as there is "ino?" beside the makers stamp on the main blade. A main spear, a small clip, a screw driver blade, a punch (awl), a cork screw and a can opener, kinda' like a French made SAK. The knife is about 3 5/8" closed. The back springs are not full length, only about 1 1/2" long.

Philip I can see why you didn't walk past that one. Doesn't look old but it sure looks interesting. Love those scales.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
North Star Blade Collectors batch for today. I nabbed these. You should have seen the ones that got away. The big lockback is a Khyber with a pocket lap pocket sharpener and Micardia scales with a nice sheath, the stag swing guard lockback is a J.Fenton Sheffield (no England), fancy Eureka jack is a New York knife, the ivory whittler is also NYK, and finally the little bone sleeveboard is a Marshall Wells. I'm hauling the big Khyber to work on Monday. The rest are officially safe queens. ____Dave
Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Scott, bet those don't last long.
Dave, what a haul. Don't see anything I don't like but that ivory whittler really pops.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Guys,
I am doing a little show this weekend and picked up a few, some very decent. One that got omitted from the photos is a Case XX 05247 and it is in very nice condition.
Others are a scandinavian fixed blade, a very nice Browning, a pair of Bucks one fixed blade and one single blade lock back. One OTF (China), a couple of multi-tools, a couple of Gerbers, a Moore Maker, and a few others.
Check 'em out.
Ray

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Here are today’s treasures. One, the Case, was a gift from Charlie while the Richards and the little gold Crest were both from an antique store down on Front Street in New Westminster. I’ve bought a few things from her before and somehow she magically turned a ten dollar knife and a fifteen dollar knife into two for $15. Good score for me, good business for her. I suspect I’m the only one that ever looks in her semi hidden knife bowl and yes, I will be back!

Four Richards, one cheapie Ridge Runner and a little silver plated watch fob. It has no marks.
I will probably look for another Mountie as this one seems a bit iffy. I think it’s going into protective custody until I find out if it’s got gas or just some age spots.
The Queen is to replace my poor outgassed specimen. I’ll hang onto the old one for sentimental reasons, but she’s been banished...wait, wouldn’t it be exiled?!..into an old cigarette tin.
Not a bad day’s hunting!

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Here are a couple of photos of some more of the weekend knives. There is a little overlap with the photos I posted yesterday as they all got kinda mixed up together.
If any of them call your name, let me know.

Pristine Delrin 72 and an almost as nice shortline Rogers bone 69. Two of my favorites.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Thanks dog! At the bottom of the 2nd photo there is a big 'tool'. Any idea what that might be? I have been calling it a folding hatchet. There is only a 'bird-like' logo with the initials C & R. I have no clue about this.doglegg wrote:Ray there are some quality pick ups there. I'm afraid to look too hard.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Thanks guys. The short line 69’s are a bit harder to come by. Most of them are long lines. I thought I only had one more of these, but going through them I found another short line bone 69. That makes three now. Or maybe they’re multiplying. Yep, that’s my story.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Thanks, Wade. You know me. I am pretty much a fan of the traditional knife. I have a lot of learning to do. Truth is, I don't even know which one is a Griptillan.Colonel26 wrote:My goodness Ray!
