Iman, is that a jig you have made to steady the tooth while your working on it? Looks well used. I always enjoy your work. ::tu::
Nailed it. If you want it steady and solid so it doesn't move when you're carving or grinding on it and putting pressure on it, it's much easier to hold in a groove or slit, or hole, than just fingers doing freehand. Thanks for the comments.

That piece at the bottom of the last pic...chocolate creme....very nice. ::tu::

Thanks Tony. They get these out of Eskimo Middens, garbage dumps, they had so much ivory in tusks they threw the teeth away. Now they dig them up and they are weathered, stained, mineralized for hundreds or thousands of years and hence the color. The longer they were burried in soil, the deeper the color goes through. Some are colored brown or black all the way through. That usually takes thousands of years. A shallow surface color, or color that only goes in a little way is much younger usually. Burrial conditions and soil composition obviously has some to do with it too, but time mostly.

All this talk of Northwestern Tribes and carving got me looking through my library of Native American art. So here a photo of a photo with a knife stuck in there.

Every time I see a group shot of someones knife collection I find myself wanting many of the ones I don't have, like some of those I see on your table.

Took a few minutes out of a busy day to snap this pic myself.

What is the barlow at the bottom of the second picture?
The Barlow is a 2009 double stamped, Queen/Schatt Morgan, Blade Forums, SFO with Stag covers, 1 of about 120 knives made. Very rare, very desirable.

Man MadH, what a looker. Great antlers on that one and good pair of blades to have. Like the bolster stamps too. Very cool.

Iman, I think you pocket that one a lot, and with reason. Knice glow in those handles. ::nod:: ::nod:: ::tu::
Jtx, pretty bone on both of those knives but that Wards looks closer to my age and catches my eye. ::nod:: ::tu:: ::tu::

doglegg, that Wards bone is pretty, but the other side has a crack in it, so it is a user for me. The monkey fists are just some which I made for friends, who requested them.

Jtx, that's a great pic period. Love the old bones on those two. Character plus.
Thanks doglegg, it pushed several out of carrying time when it came, my favorite little knife these days, can't get enough smooth autumn gold bone. Unfortunately it's so popular it's never usually even an option. When the rare one comes up you don't even get to think it over, have to jump on it immediately, shell out whatever they're asking no questions asked, and like it or lump it when it gets to you because there's no sending back for an exchange.
