Its good to see a scrimshaw knife being used, i.e. getting out and about in the woods.

Squach too, appreciate it. And great shots.
Joeradza, what a cool shot of Imperials. Great knives. Also great backdrop, looks like a studio shot. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Thanks! Here is what happened today when I went to take some AAPK pictures this morning; Zeus, wants to play fetch while I am trying to take a classic EDC picture and he bumps my hand with his head as I trying to take the perfect picture So I have to throw the toy and take a photo in about 12 seconds before he is back wanting me to throw the toy for himDan In MI wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 6:23 amI had something similar happen while shooting a video. One of the cats came in to see what I was doing, and almost pawed a knife off the backdrop!
Zeus is a cool dog, and I finally understand the significance of your user name. Interesting Schrade, too; I can't say it's one I've seen before.
That Schrade in the photo was one of the last models they produced in the US...I think...it is very lightweight and great for hiking.

Thanks. Black background spot meter on the blade and pretty much everything pops.woodwalker wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 8:42 pmGreat Photo! That leather sheath pops on that black background and your knives look great too! Just a great photo in my book!!
Re: Knife Photography
I bought it used a few years ago. It's a very small knife but built solid. A very handy little fixed blade with a deep choil so you can choke up on it for maximum control, good carving tool. Whoever used it took good care of it and continuing to use it and take good care of it seemed like the thing to do.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 8:38 pm Its good to see a scrimshaw knife being used, i.e. getting out and about in the woods.

LJ, You have a wonderful eye for knives. What a fine selection. Among the other beauties, those Dr's Knives are superb.

That's quite a line up LJ!

Re: Knife Photography
Squatch, Sorry to be a pest but could you provide some info on your Bowie. Bowies have long been an interest and I like the lines of yours. Thanks.
Re: Knife Photography
Thanks Garry & Charlie.
Other than the Case Teardrop and Sunflower, I was fortunate to arrive at that particular estate sale before the knives drew anyone else's attention, so I got my pick. These are, I suspect, older models done by Frost. Nevertheless, they are attractive, well built and solid knives.
Charlie...that is a marvelous Bowie and the perfect sheath for it.

It's really more like a short sword at 17 3/4" OAL. It's a Cold Steel replica of an 1849 US Army Rifleman's Knife. Below is a museum photo of an original minus the frog.

Re: Knife Photography
Sorry QS, I had mean to include you in my previous post with the requested info but got in a hurry because I had biscuits in the oven and sausage gravy on the stove. Didn't want to burn either and my stomach thought my throat had been cut! Having now satisfied my hunger (threw in some scrambled eggs for good measure) I returned to discover my omission. My apologies.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 12:27 pm Squatch, Sorry to be a pest but could you provide some info on your Bowie. Bowies have long been an interest and I like the lines of yours. Indeed it is, Diglegg. This one is manufactured by Linder of Solingen Germany and they call it the Pathfinder. There are several cutlers who offer this pattern. The Fleur-de-lis is the international symbol of Scouting I believe.

A CAMILLUS #11. The light is a strong after 9 am for outside photos, looks like I have to start "shooting" earlier....
