Mark, I hear you. Most of my collecting has been of the shotgun type. It was only Bull Dogs that induced me to focus on them. Now there has developed a growing focus on Japanese fixed blade knives. But apart from these two exceptions everything else is virtually anything that appeals to me.

Quick Steel, thanks for mentioning me in the same breath as Sasquach. I'm trying my best. Here's my favorite - a Henckels with stag:
It's not a contest or race Geo. Every collection has its own merit and every collector envies the collections of other collectors. It's the nature of the beast. We are almost never satisfied with our own collection because another collector has a rare one we're looking for or has more knives the we do etc. It's what drives us to keep collecting. I've said it before and I'll say it again, while I appreciate the complements I know collectors who have collections that dwarf mine......and of course I envy them. You keep posting those beautiful canoes and keep on collecting. Now I must bow to you for your last post, ::not_worthy:: I don't have a single Henckels in my collection......YET. ::rotflol::

Here are some Colonel Coons you might find interesting.

I certainly have a soft spot for canoes but, like you QS, I'm subject to snag any knife that "speaks to me" if you know what I mean. ::tu::

Squatch, that horn handle is really interesting. I don't think I have seen one with so much natural white.

I've often wondered about that myself. It appears to be completely natural. I'd like to know what specific species of buffalo contributed the horn.

Buffalo horn: This can be sourced from many different countries. I do know that the horn used in Japanese knives is most commonly Asian water buffalo which are all over in almost every country in S.E. Asia, e.g. Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and on and on. Are these used in Europe and elsewhere? I believe they are. If a reputable knife maker says buffalo then it will be buffalo not simply horn from cattle.

It's fine Charlie. I have the right spirit. I would rather sound a little humble, even if I'm not. And you just reminded me, I don't have a Queen Colonel Coon Canoe. Those are good looking knives. Thanks.

I believe I bought this Henckels around 2000. I liked the knife except for the handles. A few years ago, muskrat man took care of that.

That is a beautiful canoe. Very nice handles on that.

What was on it before MM worked his magic?

Dan, I'm pretty sure it was some kind of antler. I bought it through the mail so I got the next one in stock. Neither side was bad but they didn't match to suit me so I picked out some bone & sent it to Muskrat Man. Now I'm happy & really like it.

But, before I did that, I saw this. It's more of what I had in mind to begin with.

I like it Geo!! ::tu:: Nice little tuxedo too.

European stag has it's own appeal, at least I think so. Like this English made IXL Schrade-Wostenholm.
