Here's some wood on a Schrade Mini Trapper (not sure what kind of wood) that has been "dressed up" with some fancy saw cut checkering

Much like driftwood, the wood-handled knives in my collection tend to ebb & flow...some float in then float back out while others manage to insinuate themselves permanently in my collection.

Here's a pair of Case 7207 mini trappers with Curly Maple covers (both of which recently floated out on the high tide to exotic new destinations: one to KY and one to MS, IIRC).

That is some cool texture. Love the stripe down the middle too. Looks to be great grip. Wow, wonder why there isn't more of this kind of thing out there. Looks cool and increases grip-ability. Win win. Thanks for showing, never seen anything like that. Very cool.

All very nice knives, SKIP...but, since this thread is focused on Wood handles more than the knife patterns, it would be apropos if you could also ID the type of wood used on each of your knives (if you know the type). Personally, I have a hard time identifying the different types of woods...which is why it would be nice to see some examples with proper wood identification. ::nod::

Nice knives Skip. The Camillus Knives wooden handles were made from what Camillus called South American Rosewood. Remington Knives then were a type of laminated Guibourtia Wood which is a African Rosewood.

I think this is South American rosewood, whatever it is, it's really nice, at first glance you could be forgiven for thinking it is Ebony.

Great wood. Nice grain. Is that a big old spear or wharn hiding in there? Kentucky Shiner? Very cool looking knife.

Mahalo, Ivoryman...you nailed it: Kentucky Shiner with a 4-1/8" Wharncliffe (it's a handful of a knife, for sure ::nod::).
