Re: Harvest Time Knives!!
Great pics Josh, thanks for sharing them!
Congrats on the new Benchmade, that is one fine lookin' piece of cutlery there....and nice haul of produce too, man those cherry tomatoes have got me salivating over here! Did ya gobble them all up already? toss 'em in a salad? eat 'em straight? If you toss them with a little olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic and slow roast them in the oven on a cookie sheet they get all roasty and concentrated...or skewer 'em on bamboo skewers and put 'em on the grill over high heat and char the outside....or chop 'em up and make a salsa with some herbs, chiles, onions and a little lime.....oh man I can't wait for some fresh tomaters.....

Re: Harvest Time Knives!!
Love that AAPK knife Junebug, very cool. And nice batch of 'maters and cukes! Looks like lunch to me....
Spent an hour or so digging out weeds this morning, and managed to harvest this small batch of garden goodness as well...used the Gerber USA EZ OUT to aid in my work. I like to carry this one in the garden and around a campsite etc...solid knife that has held up well to hard use over the years. Very light weight, and it truly is "EZ OUT"...she whips open right fast.

Here we go again....how did I know this thread was going to take a turn down that ol' road again...?
Jerry you know full well that getting those freshly grown delicious veggies anywhere near a jar of that funky Miracle Whip abomination would be an insult to the garden gods.....

Hey!! The only road we're going down here is the Summer food road. It's one of my favorite summer salads. I'm drooling just thinking about it.
You started it with all this fresh garden stuff.
Next you'll be telling me BLTs are off limits.

Oh Jerry, my friend....BLT's will never be off limits in my world! One of the best sandwiches ever. I like mine with thick cut whole wheat or whole grain toast, an edge to edge smear of Hellman's, lots of black pepper and kosher salt and a couple healthy shots of Tobasco...and of course freshly crisped meaty applewood smoked bacon and "off the vine ten minutes ago garden tomatoes".....maybe even just a thin slice of red onion too.....oh man now I AM salivating!jerryd6818 wrote:Hey!! And..oh wait...this is Wisconsin, so I'll add a slice of Wisconsin Cheddar to my imaginary sandwich as well!
C'mon 'maters.....ripen doggone it!!

Re: Harvest Time Knives!!
Since I don't work in one of those fancy schmancy kitchens and don't live in Cheddar land. My BLTs are toast, fried bacon, thick slice of fresh tomato, couple of iceberg lettuce leaves and plenty of Miracle Whip.313 Mike wrote:Oh Jerry, my friend....BLT's will never be off limits in my world! Jerry, they're Assendelfters,a rare and old Dutch breed.A few centuries older than Welsummers.

Re: Harvest Time Knives!!
I guess me and Josh are the only ones doing any harvesting this summer?
Oh well, going to try to keep it alive here....The good earth yielded up these fine crops today, with the assistance of my Mini Grip of course!
First three red tomatoes of the year for me...yes they are tiny little cherry toms, but it's a start!

Nice looking Harvester Tank!
Love those grey scales, very understated, but cool and classy...That small hawkbill blade is a great option on that knife, would be a perfect beansnipper!

OK guys, we are well into harvest season now, let's breath some life into this thread and post up some pics! I wanna see what the good earth is giving up to my knifin' buds around the country...and world!
Here's todays harvest...
A few cherry tomatoes, a bunch of green beans, some jumbo jalapenos, a couple baby onions... a bucket of oversize pickles....and Sofia with her favorite out of the garden, freshly yanked carrots!

Welllllllll ok then.
Guess nobody wants to show and tell... ....I suppose I'll just let this thread die on it's own then. For some reason I thought there were some folks here that might want to show off some fresh veg but I guess not!
I'll just gather up my produce and go home then.
