Congrats pal!!! Very happy for you!! Maybe you'll get another with your gun this season!!313 Mike wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 1:03 pm Well, here is a harvest of a different sort...freshly harvested venison tenderloins! I shot a small buck with my bow last evening, very grateful to have venison for the freezer!
The knife is an old Case fixed blade, that my dad acquired from a suspect many years ago when he was a police officer. I recently acquired it from him and liked the feel of it, so toted it into the woods with me and put it to work.

Congrats Doug. Great choice of gun, caliber and knife. I bet that special Buck did some purposeful whittling on ole Mister Venison.
Re: Harvest Time Knives!!
Thanks guys. The snow is all gone now and we're beck to mud again after a couple inches of rain yesterday. I love that Henry rifle. In the lower part of the state we are limited to straight wall cartridges of a limited case length. The Buck knife I carry every deer season in memory of Dad.

Congrats on a beautiful deer Doug!

Allrighty Boys, ain't been no posts in the Harvest Time Knives in 6 months, time to get started! I know there has to be some things growin' besides y'all piles of pocket knives!
We've cut back considerably but still doing raised beds. Peas planted in the dirt with the tractor and later hopefully we'll figure on planting a punkin' patch about August 1st.
We have some Bells, Sweet Bananas, Mammoth Jalapenos and a few tomatoes. The peppers are all ready to start harvesting. Treefarmer

Looking great Phillip, crazy how far ahead you are down there in Florida. My maters and peppers just went in the ground a few days ago!

Nothing better than a tomato picked fresh
off the vine
Then take a nice thick slice of said tomato,
place it between two slices of toasted white
bread, generous layer of mayonnaise and some
fresh cracked pepper.
I eat these all summer, not very nutritious, but
very delicious

Re: Harvest Time Knives!!
Thanks for the kind words, the raised beds are easier for old folks to deal with but I still like to act like I'm still farming. Planted two patches of Southern peas this afternoon and we have been blessed with a showery evening, good light rain! The peas planted were Big Boy Purple Hulls, a southern cow pea, they should be ready to pick in about 70 days.

Carrots and peas coming along nicely. I suppose I should thin those carrots out a bit, that's always a pain though!

Here is the 1st of the Bell pepper crop, stuffed with rice, venison sausage, onions, mushrooms, sour cream and mozzarella cheese. We've been eating some of the small grape tomatoes for a week or so. The peas planted last week are shining from end to end in every row! Hoping all this rain from Christobal doesn't harm them too much.

Hey, Phil! I don't mind leftovers! Is Tuesday too late?
Love stuffed peppers, and I do prefer grape tomatoes over cherry tomatoes!
Stay dry, my friend. Praying that the storm doesn't hit you too hard.

Re: Harvest Time Knives!!
Thank you, Steve. We've only had 1.5 inches so far, none standing or running off.
Any time you come down to LA there should be somethin' in the fridge to eat. Left over peppers are easier to eat in my way of thinking, they are easier to cut cold then reheat in the microwave than when they first come out of the oven.
Y'all have a good day, we are almost ready for church this morning.

Good stuff Phillip, you are the stuffed pepper master. I would love to sit down at a table with you and sample your work!
