I picked up a couple Toothpicks. Keep one and dump the other. Never owned one. Both impeccable knives, great stag, Giraffe bone, great colors, snap, action, centering, like you would expect, tight, no slop, mild snap. But what jumped out at me was the big bump on the spine of the Northwoods blade and how far that long pull clip makes the blade stick out when closed. That's big to me. And the blade is so much thicker near the tip, and wider, and less sleek and smooth. The Northfield is flat ground, the whole blade is thinner, narrower, sleeker, and much lighter. Barely sticks out at all when closed, so much more narrow in the pocket, less obtrusive. I like the stag better than the Giraffe and I LOVE the no shield look. I like the Northwoods steel liners and pins better than Northfield brass though. Just me.

Ivoryman, thank you for taking the time to describe the 2 knives. Obviously the blades are shaped differently, but the size difference and pocketability consideration is very apparent in you side-by-side photo.

Love a good Swayback. This Lambfoot brought to you by Charlie C., GEC, and Gunstock Barry, with a couple I already had thrown in. Couldn't be more pleased. Blew me away. Looks, build, feel, finish, has it all. Maybe the best GEC I've ever had. And the pattern rocks, nothing to disappoint. 47 used to be fave and the Mammoth shown is one of them. The 93 might be fave, maybe, I don't know, tough call. Both rock Right up there with the Tim Britton custom in the stag. Imagine I'm giving the Waynorth salute. Hats off and home run from land of the Bills, Buffalo N.Y.

In poker, three of a kind beats a pair. These are my Camillus 21 triplets (with various degrees of blade usage/sharpening).

A pair of large, 3-blade, Camillus Stockman knives (NOT 67's). They probably started out in life as identical or almost identical twins. But different handles and blade loss have made them not so identical anymore. But both are still good knives, with a lot of life (blade) left in them.

Today's matching pair are oldies and definitely goodies. These are 2 bladed jack knives from the Allen Cutlery Company, Newburgh, New York (1917-1925). You can read about them and more in the "Knife Lore" forum, in the "Allen Cutlery" thread.

This pattern, which I admired earlier, seems to me to have accomplished simultaneously both a modern yet traditional look. Like it a lot.
