Thanks Randy. What you say makes a lot of sense. So it seems the "general consensus" is that the OG knife is a reproduction.

I'm getting the sense that, so far, no one disputes the parts are authentic, most probably "NOS". However, not knowing where, exactly, it was assembled leaves some to ponder what to call it. ::pace::

Anyone else feel free to chime in on this one.

I think I opened up "Pandora's Box" here...

Mike, we must have been typing at the same time. As I stated in my previous post, I really don't think that the blades of your knife are original Simmons blades, they look like new manufacture to me.

Okay Dan I saw your post. Wow, this is really puzzling. What gets me is that this knife appears to be well made, and it looks really good too. It's a gorgeous looking knife.

I hope some more guys chime in on this, I'd like to get as many sides to the story as I can. ::nod::

I sold Mike this knife. He emailed me and asked if he should take down the post. Here is my response.

Mike,
I just looked at the description and there is nothing in the description that would indicate that I think this knife is older than what it is, If you had asked I would have been glad to state the connection to Jim Parker. I guess my problem is that all the people I deal with at knife shows know the history of these Simmons Hornets so it never occurred to me to put it in the description. I forget sometimes that not everybody was at the shows when Jim(Parker) had 100's of these knives on his table. I do not want for you to pull the post. Knowledge is king. The knife is a beautiful, well made German Knife with outstanding pearl and well worth what I asked for it. I am talking about value and not what it will or will not bring on ebay. It is just as good as any Fight'n Rooster or old Bulldog Brand.

This company is re-issuing lots of old brands. Could your knife be one of those?

I also readily agreed to take the knife back as has always been my policy.

No. It was sold by Jim Parker in the late 1990's.

It was assembled in Germany at Olbertz. There are some who doubt Jim Parkers claims that these were original parts found in an old German Factory.

Regardless of where or when it was made, it is a good looking knife. ::tu::

I would describe the OP knife as a Reproduction because that is what it is. A new replica of an old knife. I do not think that this knife contains any old original factory parts.

Shame that this knife and so many other reproductions like it are not marked with a date or some other method that would make the provenance less confusing.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Winchester bought into Simmons hdwe and moved their knife plant from Walden New York to Connecticut. Alot could have changed at the new plant thus giving a different look

Welcome to AAPK Hugh. The knife is a modern reproduction.

How about this little knife? Original Simmons or a reproduction?
