Fruit and vegetable slicers
For this week I'm on a forced unpayed shut-down week soooo Mom is slaving me and my services and while on slicing duty I am wondering what you guys are using to slice these delights.for me my choices were what I use in my camp kitchens,an Sodbuster and a Opinel.I did also use a Buck toothpick that the Grandies gut me and she did a good job...So what slippy do you guys use for this chores????

Good choices GD! I also like to use the long spey blade on a full size trapper for fruit and veggie prep, works great

Spey I never thought of that as I use my trapper Spey as a mini-skinner while prepping game.

Gdogg,
I too use a Case Trapper for my choice in the kitchen when butcherin' vegetables. In fact the one I've been using the most, I got from 313 Mike. It's a 6354 SS. I like the stainless steel when doing the vegetables, something about the carbon steel and certain veggies like tomatoes , maybe it's just me .
By the way where did Y'all get them fine lookin' 'maters and peppers this time of the year?

This is my all purpose vegetable/meat/bread slicer that I bought several years ago at a yard sale for 25 cents.I think it is hand made and is scary sharp.I know this because my son nearly severed his thumb with it one day. I don't like using a pocket knife to slice vegetables;especially tomatoes.

Re: Fruit and vegetable slicers
This old Case has stood in more than a few times for mediocre house cutlery while out for a meal.
While I don't find myself directly cutting tomatoes with it, I do not have any problems when cutting foods with tomato already added. I can imagine the acidity of some foods may react differently between carbon and high-chromium/stainless steels, however.

Re: Fruit and vegetable slicers
You asked for "slippy" knives......and I don't use a slipjoint, rather a RADA tomato slicer.....works ever so perfectly!!

Re: Fruit and vegetable slicers
I've used various slip joints for food prep, usually whatever I happen to be toting.
Scott sent me one of those mater slicers and I can't wait to use it on maters this coming year.

I'll have to get a 'mater from the grocery store and try it. It's worked great on everything I've tried it on so far. Used it on a baked tater today.garddogg56 wrote:Looks like a tomato squished Jerry

Re: Fruit and vegetable slicers
I bought the original SpiraLife spiral vegetable cutter from Lifestyle Dynamics. It is very convenient to prepare meals. It is easy to get vegetarian noodles in 2 sizes: wide spiral strips and thin spaghetti-style noodles. The great thing is that this tool will not mash your vegetables, and the chopped shape can be preserved very well.
I bought from this post, (https://www.gearhunder.com/best-vegetable-slicers/) it recommends some good things from amazon.
