I have no idea. I asked about the tang stamp on another thread.KAW wrote:Thanks doglegg.

I was told by Miller Bro's that it said THE EAGLE CUTLERY, but not
where it was located. Just that it was probably European, most likely
in Germany. The knife came from a vendor in Wisconsin, so that seems
to make sense.

Re: Tuxedos
Thanks for showing your Eagle knife here, New Windsor.
Thanks, Ken. Nice Tuxedo you have there. I hope it's a pre Hammer stamp.
The idea of specifically carrying one of those in the vest pocket of your suit somehow appeals to me in an old timey way.
Full disclosure: I don't own a suit.

Re: Tuxedos
When Robeson started putting pattern numbers on their knives, sometime in the early 1900's, they gave this pattern the number 001.
Not sure it is a true "Tuxedo". I've always called it a balloon-ended swell-centered penknife.
Ebony handles.
Has a rare and I think, very early "ShurEdge" stamp. Circa 1903. Only knife I have ever seen with that stamp, as far as I can recall.

Saw this one on Ebay years ago. Terrible seller photograph, but it's a Robeson, so I copied the pic.

Here's a Southington tuxedo I got recently.
Southington stopped making knives in 1905.

Very nice knife with great handles and no cracks. There are so many vintage Tuxedo knives 'out there' that they must have been part of the well dressed man's 'attire', along with wallet, keys and handkerchief.

Agreed, and in the case of Southington knives, in place of keys, riding gloves.kootenay joe wrote:Very nice knife with great handles and no cracks. Thank you for showing your knife, NWNY.
I can't tell who made it but it does seem to be German. Nice little pearl.

Thank you FRJ.
Berryb, could the tang possibly say THE EAGLE CUTLERY?

Re: Tuxedos
Nope, it's Magnetic. At first I thought it was majestic but it's magnetic. Mine has 4 grooves in the bolsters not 3 like yours. And it has some jimping, I think the term is, around the pearl, but otherwise it's the spittin'image. Yours looks to be in better shape though.

Thank you! It's not that I doubt you, I just don't see Magnetic in what's left of the tang stamp.Berryb wrote:Nope, it's Magnetic. At first I thought it was majestic but it's magnetic. Is yours any clearer? Can you post a pic so I can see it and compare? Thanks again.
