Redrider, obviously the Remington is nice but I really like your jumbo whittler.

Wow, very difficult question. If you ask me tomorrow it probably will be 4 very different answers. But for now I will go with these from the "Tested" group. ::tounge::

VERY NICE knives guys! ::tu:: It's hard for me to pick only four, but I am particularly fond of these. It took me a LONG time to find them. All are old H. Bokers.

A pocket knife is still an intimate personal possession of the individual who carries it and consequently deserves the best of materials, finish and workmanship in its production. (Quoted from Boker's 1928 cutlery catalog).

Joe, I picked that one up at least 50 years ago. I didn't have a clue what I had until about the time I joined AAPK. Searching for information on it was how I stumbled on to AAPK.

Impossible to pick just four.I just spent an hour debating with myself(a very hard person to argue with)on which ones to pick.I came up with five so let's just pretend there is another President on the memorial(pick one;I'm not political). All of these have a special meaning to me.
#1 A 17th century Persian jambiya with sheath and companion dagger.Damascus blades;carved,"pachyderm incisor" handles;wooden sheath covered in what looks like lizard skin.
#2 A Press Button Knife Co. one armed man's knife etched,"Compliments of A.A. Marks Maker of artificial Limbs"
#3 A Case V-42 dagger bought as a letter opener.
#4 A John Ek Model 6 # M393 fighting knife given to me as a gift for appraising some knives.
#5 A Joseph Rodgers spear point(9 inch)bladed Bowie knife with original sheath.

Next time I'll do folding knives.

Wow, some power lineups here. I especially like Roger's and the Bokers. (had to add the Ulster twice so I'm still at four.)

Always been a fan of Case's purple appaloosa bone ... these have exceptional color and can't be replaced, which is why they represent my Mt. Rushmore (plus every one has exceptional walk and talk)

This is a tough one but I'll try. First is a set of 4 Ulster Barlows, salesman sample ink, unused, made more special because of who I obtained them from. Next an unused Schrade Walden Congress in stag, then an early Camillus Sword Brand easy open and finally a stag Challenge wharncliffe whittler.

Here they be, all four of the good old boys, Schrade for American Express, micarta, not Delrin. On a side note, I have had in hand more than one example of one given pattern, say, the Jefferson folding hunter, and the signature and scrimshaw image are different. I have not yet decided why this is so. More knowledge from Folk is welcome!

The Boker 'Reclining Dog' lobster knife is very special i'm sure. It looks to be the oldest 'Reclining Dog' pattern i have seen. Is it USA made ?
And Mike, what is the lockback jack (first picture) ?
So many incredible knives. I don't know if i have anything in the same league. Well i did, an ivory Jos. Rodgers & Sons Sportsmans knife (pg 212, upper left, Sheffield Ex.'n Knives) but now Charlie C. has it.
I agree with k7k, finding just 4 knives can for many collectors be very difficult. I would like to see 4 threads: Mount Rushmore of your vintage folding knives; M.R. of modern folding knives; M.R. of custom made knives; and M.R. of fixed blade knives.

Please forgive my lack of courtesy; Roger's Bokers are one of the premier collections on this planet. Unsurpassed. I have downloaded some of the images of his Bokers that are just to die for. I remember when that little ivory doggie came up for sale. It went where it was supposed to go. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::

Wow! The pictures in this thread have been ogle worthy. ::clapping::

This picture is a Jim Parker autographed Pocket Knife Traders Price Guide Volume 3 along with the 3 Case Tested XX knives that are pictured on the cover. The clasp 6172 also has its original box. Maybe someday I will track down a Case Classic 8172.

These are my 4 favorites. They're the ones I pick up and look at the most, not the most valuable.
a stag 4 blade with 2 home made blades
a single blade home made with half stop
an old NYKC jack
an old western states that belonged to my grandfather, my mom says she thinks he got it from his father.
