No picture but I broke down a deer with my CaseXX Southern Grind. Removed the shoulders, the back straps, the tinder loins, the rib meat and the neck meat. The hind quarters (hams) were removed with a Milwaukee sawzall. All this meat was placed on a bed of ice in a large ice chest and then buried in ice to age for a week or two.

I (unintentionally) cut myself prepping a knife for shipment. And the knife was extra sharp as it had been ground by the folks at Bark River! Sommabitch that hurt!

How’s that southern grind do on Bambi? Did it measure up to the old Queen 39?treefarmer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 3:05 am No picture but I broke down a deer with my CaseXX Southern Grind. Wade, to be perfectly honest, the old 39 is probably better. The reason, the secondary blade has some advantages the single wide blade of the Case doesn’t have, like peeling meat from between ribs and such. JMO

I used my CASE CV sowbelly stockman to open a couple packages of copy paper at school. Oh, and to clean my fingernails too. Maybe that counts.
I figured that’s about how it’d shape up. That thin blade on a skinner is a handy thing.treefarmer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 4:02 am Wade, to be perfectly honest, the old 39 is probably better. Some pretty heavy work today:
I used my Remington 4 1/2" Folding Hunter to cut away some overgrown grapevines that were in the way of a corner of a fence, as I had to remove a bull panel one side was composed of since some dead pine trees were being cut down. Used my Leatherman for cutting of wire, and to tighten a gate hinge that I'd fixed yesterday, but not tightened too well. But, the "knife" part, the serrated blade on the ST300, was used to cut even more of the vine out of my way.

My grandfather used to trim my nails when I was a kid.
Dad was doing a year remote tour in Thailand during the end of the Vietnam War.
We moved to be close to Mom's parents. Got to see lots of my grandparents. Great times. Walks in the woods, my first knife...
Take care and God bless,

Used my old Schrade 125ot to cut the twine off 2 bails of straw and open a bag of chicken feed. Can't beat those carbon steel blades.

Replacing my refrigerator water hose. Who knew that this is something that would need to be replaced, it wasn't too bad though. Fortunately, I had my blade close at hand to cut it down to the exact length that I needed to connect to the nozzle in the wall without too much slack in the back of the refrigerator to avoid having in bend and possibly crack again.

Did a little brush clearing at the jobsite. Everyone kept tripping over the same vine.
