250 Tons of buffalo horns
350,000 Cape ox and cow horns
200,000 Australian horns
150 Tons of Calcutta ox and cow horns
100 Tons of Madras ox and cow horns
120 Tons of deer horn

A most informative article for collectors of vintage knives and it provides the answer to a 'debate' that has been going on among knife collectors for decades: What is the handle material often seen on vintage Sheffield knives that resembles stag but is unlike any present day stag ? It is pressed horn; horn that has been softened and then pressed into a die with a textured surface.
This is the only article i have ever read or heard about that describes horn pressing. This article describes how horn pressing was well established and employed many people.
