That’s great! Almost as good as getting a new knife - maybe better.

Gives me a faint ray of hope. I lost a good custom knife about 8 years ago in my house. Still regularly looking for it.

I know the exhilaration of recovering a lost knife. Congrats. My Buck has been missing for 48 hours.

If you were out driving around, look on the rear seat floor mat. That's where 2 of my missing knives were hiding. Another was in my future mother-in-law's recliner.

Re: Found my lost knife!
Good to hear you found your knife.
I lost a buck 110 work knife 2 years ago. I looked everywhere for that knife. I checked our barn, my son's house, my house, my truck. You name it I looked there. About 6 months ago I sold my truck to a young man and his wife. A couple weeks later I got a call from the young man I sold my truck to. He said he removed the center console to replace it with a flip up console and found a buck knife. I told him I have been missing that knife for a long time and thanked him for calling me about it. He said sir I would not have felt good about keeping that knife. I remember the day I looked at your truck you had a knife on your belt. I thanked him for his honesty and offered him a finder's fee. He declined.

1967 redrider, thanks for the advice. The car and chairs were immediately checked. I've been through this drill before. The last time it took 6 months. So I will be patient.

Re: Found my lost knife!
Just found my missing knife moments ago. When opening my own mail with the Buck I create a pile of my sister's mail which gets quite large as she may not visit home for a week or more. Somehow my knife got mixed into her pile of mail. As I added today's mail to her stack I discovered my knife. Thank you all for your concern and compassion. My tears have ceased.
Re: Found my lost knife!
Double the happiness, 2 knives were found! Congrats to both of you!
I lost a Dunlap custom recently. I turned the whole house over without success. A few days later, I was thinking that I had used it down in the basement to open something up. I went downstairs where I was working, and there she was, right where I left her...

And my compliments on the knife itself! A 75 pattern CASE is about as good as it gets. But that one kicks it up a notch!

Re: Found my lost knife!
Glad you found your knife. I discovered about 6 weeks ago I lost an old wooden 12 inch
level I had since I was about 12 years old.
My dad bought me a small children's tool box that had a hammer, screwdriver, level,
and a few other things I don't remember. I still have the hammer- although part of the
nail pull part had broken off many, many years ago. The screwdriver is in good shape.
I thought I used the level in the late summer outside but maybe not? I may have used
it at a house I no longer have access too ( it would now be in a wall) but maybe not.
It usually is in an old tool belt waist belt. Not there now.
I have taken everything out of my car trunk at least twice. (Sometimes when I am doing
outside work and it is getting late I will toss it in the trunk and bring it back to the basement
later.
I have terrible OCD when it comes to loosing things. I have lost knives before and they
always appear when you least expect it. Makes me think about the level again ............

Re: Found my lost knife!
I recently found a custom knife that had been missing for maybe 2 years ? This is not my lost Halfrich from about 8-9 years ago.
I was feeling around in a 'container' nailed on a closet wall that holds vacuum attachments. It's deep and the knife was at the bottom.
I have a habit of trying to do 2 or more jobs at the same time. Likely i had the knife in my hand and was going to put it away properly when i saw a vacuum part, picked it and dropped it into this 'container' and in doing so, dropped the knife in as well without realizing it, or remembering i had just had it in my hand.
This is not a place i would ever have looked at when searching for a lost knife. I think this 'inadvertent placement' accounts for a good portion of lost knives.
