What's your "Sweet Spot"?

Post by jerryd6818 »

As related to closed length and number of blades. Mine is 3¼" -- 3¾" and I'm pretty much a two blade guy. Just something about that size (especially in two blade knives) that makes my eyes shine.

Good topic - I like a 3.00” blade which (based on pattern) typically translates to 3.25” to 3.50”. These days my sharp needs are limited and I like a single blade Wharncliffe.

3.5 to 4 inches. 3 blades. Case 047 or Schrade 881 for example. Seems like I use either the sheepfoot or the spey blade most often.

I generally like something around 2 3/4” to 3 3/4” & 2 blades. That usually means two knives with 2 blades each. One knife is shorter & one is longer.

I would have to say 3 5/8"-3 3/4" with either 3 or 4 blades. Several patterns would fit into this spec. Camper/ Scout, cattle knife, stockman, and others.

The 4 1/4" Queen 49 and any Case 75 plus the 4 1/8" Case Trappers and my #11 Queen trapper, they fill in the sweet spot for me.

Just thinking, right now I’m carrying a Case 64047P. So the size I posted previously but four blades counting the punch.

I like knives between 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 inches or 6 - 9 cm. A shorter one (6-7cm) in my left pocket and a longer one (8-9cm) in my right pocket. I like knives with any number of blades but I find three blades fits good for me. Usually stockmans. I like Clip & Sheepsfoot blades best. Clips for opening and cutting things and sheepsfoot blades for cleaning my fingernails. And of course stag or bone Hits my sweet spot as well. ::tu::

My sweet spot has way to many variables. It all depend on what I'm doing that day, length and patterns can make the variables change especially in lockbacks and modern knives.Standard r&r days will find a 34ot or a 303 size stockman most likely in my watch pocket with either a sheath knife or a modern knife clipped in a pocket with a 3.5" or 4" blade.

That is exactly what I like also Jerry. For some reason, I thought you would have been favoring a longer length.

I'm in the 3-1/2 to 3-7/8 inch closed slot. My fave patterns are the muskrat, 47, 07 and 32. I'm a white collar stiff, and rarely carry anything smaller than 3.5"

3-3/8” to 3-3-/4” COAL, prefer a Clip main and a Sheepfoot secondary - not many of them in two blade (I have four or five) mostly carry a Medium Stockman. OH

I like big old fat ones 3 3/4 " and above, and little fat ones 3" to 3 3/4" in my pockets, and little fellers in the watch pocket. When I've got car keys with me I have two of the little saks on there. ::uc:: ::woot::
