That's a very unusual knife to be from Electric Cutlery Co. 1890-1902. I wasn't aware that switchblades were even available at that time.

Edit: Is that a release lever or does it just lock the blade in place?

Not a switch blade ,opens like a slip joint but “locks” open. to “unlock” you fold the bail back against the guard like a lever which pulls up the lock bar it’s attached to and that releases the blade.

Very unique. I have not seen an Electric like it before.

Welcome Kawanin.

Nice knife you have there.

Here is a early Electric Cutlery. Someone did a very poor job of trying to line the bolsters.
Completely cordless. :)

Welcome to AAPK!! ::tu::

I must say, I'm a bit skeptical of the knife. The whole "Look" doesn't fit with the time period Electric was in business and it has a Germanic appearance.

The stag isn't right for Electric's time period either.

I didn't look at all your photos; I should have, but didn't. Is "GERMANY" stamped anywhere on the blade?

If not, I'm wondering if an old Electric blade has been skillfully placed in a more modern frame.

I'm speaking from a general all-around vintage knife experience with absolutely no expertise in Electric Cutlery Company.

I'd be more than pleased to be proven wrong by anyone with greater knowledge, Mike Losicco, maybe.

I have been wondering also. I think possibly the stag handles are replacements for original handle slabs. They look too new to me to be 100years old. I do believe the blade is authentic, wherever this knife come from originally I have no idea. However if it has been altered,it has been done really well. There is no movement at all between blade and lock bar. Perfect fit like it was made to be. Hard to believe the blade was just fitted to this handle. It’s a cool knife regardless. Wish I knew real story on it. Thanks for welcome everyone👋🏻😎👍🏻

::welcome:: to AAPK Kawanin. That is a very interesting knife. Goins says the Electric Cutlery Co/Newark was from c.1890 - 1910. I would expect the pins to be peened, not spun. The centre pin and the bottom pin sure look spun. The handles look like elk antler to me.

I’m starting to think it’s a Frankenstein knife. It’s Very well put together for sure. Like I said earlier, I believe the blade itself is genuine electric cut co Newark NJ

however as has already been stated,It must have been fitted to this handle Mystery knife for sure.
Thanks again for all the input/comments everyone.

I remember as a kid some other kids referred to as illegitimate. I didn't know what that meant or how you could tell just looking at them. Most seemed like nice people to me. I guess some knives are like that. Welcome. ::handshake::
