Re: Mystery Knife Game
Sorry, not Empire, Challenge or Ulery. Levine lists them as a manufacturer during the 1890s. Company was bought by a larger firm in early 1900s and after that Levine lists them as a "manufacturer's brand". I believe they were still being made in the original factory, though??

If N.J. qualifies as northeast, Booth Bros. J.O'.
Re: Mystery Knife Game
Even though that does fit with my clues, it is not Electric. According to Goins this mark was used up until 1950.

I used a searchable version of Goins to zero in on that one - I never would have come up with Valley Forge left to my own devices.
Onto the next one:

Very educational thread and fun too even for those of us not knowledgeable enough to get a correct answer. We need more 'watchers' to post their guesses. Better to post and be wrong that to not post at all.

Re: Mystery Knife Game
Hmmm, Jason that is a hard one: 2 blade Regular Jack with ebony handles. Most USA knife companies made one of these and many have Hardware/Merchant markings.
But, maybe there is something i am not seeing that is specific to this brand ? I'm looking forward to the 'expert' guesses.

Re: Mystery Knife Game
I'll get us started on the right path - it's the manufacturer's name on the knife, not a hardware store, or some other branded knife.kootenay joe wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:26 am Hmmm, Jason that is a hard one: 2 blade Regular Jack with ebony handles. Not Miller Bros
**When this company closed in 1929 they owed a former employee a substantial debt which they settled by giving him all of their knife making machinery - that was the catalyst for him opening his own knife company. Neither company is obscure and you've all heard of both of them.
