It has a unique spring mounting. From my poorly drawn diagram below, you can see it has a bolster pin on the head bolster that doesn't support the spring; it only holds the liners and bolsters together. The spring terminal shares a large pin with the scale, mounted through a hump in the spring. I can't recall seeing this arrangement before. Maybe I'm just not that familiar with this construction. I think this UTICA CUTLERY Co. piece is pre-KUTMASTER unless they continued the stamp after 1937. J.O'.
