Every morning I tell myself that I won't get on AAPK and say something stupid, and everyday I fail in that quest. I just can't help being a knucklehead, but hey, it looked like Whig Cutlery to me!

I looked up Horace Creely. He founded the New York Tribune and he is known for his vigorous articulation of the North's antislavery sentiments during the 1850s.
However this clue does not lead me to any knife manufacturers.

The clue is a complete giveaway if you know what he is most famous for saying.

It is either British or German. Is the tang marked with a manufacturer's name ?
We need a clue of some sort. But i will make a guess: Jos. Rodgers & Sons.

The tang stamp is not Jos. Rodgers and Sons, but you are very very close.

Kj, I probably should have given it to you when you said Jos. Rodgers.
This one is actually stamped:
On main blade.
RODGERS
CUTLERS TO
HIS MAJESTY

On the secondary blade.
No. 6
NORFOLK ST.
SHEFFIELD

Both blades have the star and cross
ENGLAND is also stamped on the main pile side.
