Madmarco wrote: Wed Sep 01, 2021 5:34 pm This cool little folder arrived today, and it's providing me plenty of comfort already! It's a Fury made in Japan 7" oal mid-lockback slip-joint/440 stainless spear-point blade with n/n, NS bolsters, brass liners and pins, and beautiful Walnut covers. Weighs-in at 3.5 oz.'s, and came factory sharp. A nice addition to my "Unusual" pile, that had a particularly satisfying twist, in that, even though Customs inspected the knife they had no choice but to release it due to it being a true 2-handed slip-joint! The Good Guys 1, Customs Clowns too many! 8)WIN_20210901_11_09_37_Pro.jpgWIN_20210901_11_09_04_Pro.jpg

Nice looking folder Marc. I wonder if that is the same Fury brand that made a lot of Balisong knives back in the 1980's. They were made by made by Tak Fukuta in Seki Japan.
Thanks for your comments Smitty. When I posted it in a different thread Mark(SSk)said that he wouldn't be surprised if Master Fukuta had his hands on it at some point. I have a couple of Tak's folders, and they're among the nicest in my collection. 8) EDIT-After receiving updated information from Mark I edited this post to show the correct info. You had it right all along Smitty!

This is one of my favorite comfort knives, the bone is a light cream color, it slips into my pocket beautifully, and i was not expecting this, when it arrived and i opened it, it was flawless. Could not find a fault with it, is the best made knife i have.

I ordered this knife from Thailand via Etsy on Aug. 28th., and it arrived by DHL this morning, so of course it's my comfort knife for today! It's a handmade Finlang(me neither)6 3/4" oal slip-joint lockback/SS dagger blade with 30% top swedge, SS bolsters with citrine inlays on both sides, SS liners, dark horn covers with brass inlays, and lanyard hole. Weighs-in at a hair over 3 oz.'s, and arrived shaving-sharp. Walks open smoothly, and talks with a loud snap when closing. Fit and finish are perfect. When I first saw this folder it was the dagger blade that attracted me, since I've seldom seen that grind on this style knife, and I like it even more in-hand! 8)

I was really surprised too, although, the seller sent it via DHL so that would account for the speedy delivery, but it also surprised me that DHL would deliver on Labor Day, guess DHL in Canada doesn't celebrate L/D. ::shrug:: 8)

I think covid has a lot to do with it, everyone buying online has made delivery and postal services pull their fingers out and start delivering out of normal hours to get through the back log. ::tu::

Re: Comfort Knives!

Post by Madmarco »

This cool little knife arrived in today's mail, so naturally it's my comfort knife for the day! It's stamped "Minsheng", so I'd have to say it's Chinese built, although, I ordered it from Bulgaria. The knife is 7 3/4" oal/SS dagger blade with top swedge, SS bolsters with jigging, brass pins, faux wooden cover, coil-spring open/close, safety, adjustable pivot, and a pocket-clip that also serves as the rear handle. Weighs-in at exactly 3 oz.'s, and came with only the bottom edge sharpened. As always I removed the P/C, but the knife just didn't feel right in my hand so I put it back on. It's 1 of only a few knives that I've left the P.C on. I had promised myself, "no more click therapy knives", but when I saw the knife I thought it would do nicely as the auto version of a manual folder I recently received, but when I compared the 2 side-by-side they really aren't that similar. Opening was less than ideal, but with the application of some Q.R. oil it fires hard and solid with no play. The price was right, and it fills a space in my display! 8)
