Yessir! I've been letting life get in the way of fun again. It's warming up a bit down here, and I've been in the middle of lots of home projects. We got tired of looking at $300,000 tear downs, and decided to fix up our house and stay here for a while longer. I need to post a few new pickups and just haven't had a chance to photograph them yet..I'm the last guy on the planet without a cell phone, so I use my old Canon. I'll put them up soon! hope you're well, my friend! Oh, and your knife reminds me a bit of my Kershaw Skyline.Madmarco wrote: ↑Tue Apr 11, 2023 3:47 am Thanks Kerry!
They also made them with a hollow spine, but I thought this one looked better filled-in.
I just saw your name at the bottom of the "Mail Call" thread and it made me wonder where you've been again, and then low and behold I click-on a notification and it's from you! Small world, huh!

Re: Comfort Knives!
That's it M.M. ! "They also made them with a hollow spine", That is one pictured as I recall in the catalog. I remember that blade profile, which I always liked. ... My favorite AGR knife was "The Sting" ... I bought about 3 from AGR... I wish I had bought more Stings and more of AGR's sweet Seki-City folders...Madmarco wrote: ↑Tue Apr 11, 2023 3:28 am Is this the one, Dog, or am I confusing it with the model you referred to?
Front tang is stamped "A.G. Russell", and rear tang "Seki-Japan".
The little black square on the spine is the top-lock, and the rectangle shaped blade hole is for 1-hand opening.
Even if we're talking about 2 different knives, this one is really nice!

Re: Comfort Knives!
Ah yes, I definitely see the resemblance with the AGR, Kerry.
I love your Kershaw, it looks so clean and streamline.
It sounds like you have your hands full with outside projects, bud, good thing the weather is starting to cooperate.
Oh, BTW, you're the 2nd last guy on the plane without a cell phone, I am the last and I use my old laptop! lol!
I'm well buddy and hope you ae as well, thanks for asking!

Re: Comfort Knives!
How bout' that Dog, we were on the same page!
That little AGR is quite light and unobtrusive in your pocket, but not inexpensive. I was quite surprised at the price.
More than once I've almost pulled the trigger for a "Sting", but have so far backed out from doing so. They look like very solid fixers!
I wish I'd bought more IT&T, IBM, PG&E, and "...Stings and sweet Seki-City folders..."! lol!

Re: Comfort Knives!
I wouldn't have a cell phone if it wasn't cheaper than my home phone was. Plus the home phone didn't take pictures.
Re: Comfort Knives!
M.M. as I recall the Stings were about $99.97 form AGR back in the day... so that was not cheap back then but now that you can't get 'em, I wish I had two or three of everyone (style) they madeMadmarco wrote: ↑Tue Apr 11, 2023 11:46 pm How bout' that Dog, we were on the same page!

Re: Comfort Knives!
I just checked to be sure, Dog, and agrussell.com has an all-black Sting for US$57.00.
You can enter Sting in the search box, and a prompt for "Sting from CRKT by A G Russell" will pop-up and you click-on that, or, enter CL-2020 in the search box and it should come up.
They also have an all-black model of the CRKT "Ritual" that looks very cool, as well as a few others that looked quite interesting.

Re: Comfort Knives!
Here are some more that I haven't got around to posting yet, and I'm so behind on my picture posts I'm showing them a few at a time!
I don't usually do this, but I don't want anyone thinking I sit around surrounded by multiple knives to bring me comfort, although that might not be such a bad idea!
First up is this 8 1/4" oal Canadian made unmarked slip-joint with a Damascus blade, minor filework, and all stainless fully engraved body! Lots of weight on this knife! Then we have this 8 1/2" oal unmarked frame-lock, with a SS drop-point blade with front-flipper tab, Titanium body with carbon-fiber inserts, and a pocket-clip! This is one cool knife guys! And now this 6 1/2" oal SOG lockback, with a spear-point blade and single-stud, and all stainless body! Lots of weight on this one too! An 8 3/4" oal United Cutlery UC285 front-lock with modified spear-point blade with single-stud, SS body with black Zytel covers and front-lock closing system! This is my 3rd knife that has this type of blade closing system! Made in Taiwan! Last for today is this 7" oal unmarked lockback clone of a more expensive Sakai made knife, with a SS mostly serrated spear-point blade, NS bolsters and liners, and black cross-cut Zytel covers! This little baby displays a totally invisible "run-up"! More to come when I get inspired again!

Re: Comfort Knives!
Those original "stings" were made in Soligen, Germany and were a beautiful thing to hold in your hand I have a "Sting from CRKT by A G Russell" made in Tawain and a great piece, but not in the same category as the original.Madmarco wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 2:49 pm I just checked to be sure, Dog, and agrussell.com has an all-black Sting for US$57.00.

I wasn't aware they were also made by other companies besides AGR, good to know!

I think AGR tried to have them made again for a new run/series in Germany several years ago, but the project never came to fruition... unfortunately

Continuing with the CRKT line is this 7 1/4" oal Howard Viele designed "Wasp" liner-lock that displays an 8002CM Wharncliffe blade with stud that has a rubber insert, aluminum body with black/blue Pakkawood covers, and pocket-clip! Re: Comfort Knives!
I have a few more knives I've yet to post pictures of, but when these 2 came yesterday it became clear which I would post first! Coming from Mark at SSk, and he has others with different colors and designs. Thanks, Mark!
This first knife is a 6" oal GEC slip-joint with sheepsfoot blade, NS hardware, and blue camel bone covers! Stunning! And second is an A.G. Russell 7 3/4" oal Texas Ranger 2008 series lockback with a 9Cr18Mov clip-point blade that features a dual "bowl" shaped pull for 1-hand opening, SS hardware, and black micarta covers with a commemorative brass shield insert! Heavy duty! I already have their T/R series toothpick, and there are 3 remaining models after these in the T/R series that I have every intention of getting my hands on eventually, these are nice knives! Second last picture shows my toothpick model for comparison! My cat "Baby-Girl" just had to get a closer look!
