Photos can be deceptive, but I cannot see the traditional hamon line. Looks like the blade has been lightly textured. Sometimes a false hamon will be lasered on to the blade. The hamon is a wavy line created by placing clay on the edge of the blade so that the edge will remain harder than the rest of the blade when it is placed in the fire. Thus the edge is harder for its contact with its target but the rest of the blade, subjected to higher heat, remains a bit softer and more flexible to absorb shock from a blow.
Can you show a close up of the handle, both sides, and the guard?

There is no traditional "hamon" line on the blade which was the reason a couple of people opined that it was of modern origin and likely Chinese.I did submit a bunch of closeup pictures of them to a noted authority on Japanese blades and he thought that one or both might be genuine but wanted to verify them up close and personal. He advised against mailing them but said he would be glad to look at them if they were brought in person. As I live about a thousand miles from him and had no prospects of ever visiting the area I passed. What seemed to interest him was that one of them has two small knives integrated into the sides of the scabbard(see second pic)Quick Steel wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 5:21 am Photos can be deceptive, but I cannot see the traditional hamon line. I don't have a whole lot of money invested in them(less than $250)and they look to be of very good quality so I guess they will remain unverified on my wall until I'm gone. Here are the pics. These are of both swords.

I am impressed by the fixtures, i.e. the guard, handle wrap etc. It certainly does not look like the cheap "wall hanger" types often encountered at gunshows or on line. I can't add more than that. They are certainly worth investigating if you ever have the opportunity.

What I know about traditional Japanese swords you could put in a thimble.
But, having said that. These 2 don't look like cheap replicas to me.

Ditto what edge said, except my knowledge of such swords could fit on a match head! The small integrated knives are perhaps for sharpening, like the ones you see on those Indian ceremonial daggers.

Here’s where all my blades are kept. Plus, I also have a few fixed blades, machetes, daggers, swords, and axes hanging on my wall.

Re: CAVES and DISPLAYS. LET'S SEE YOURS.
Neighbor this last one cost me less than the first one
I bought several years ago.. I had coupon and when I got to checkout it was on special, I think I ended getting it for around 50 something bucks. Good luck they are pretty nice for the price.
Re: CAVES and DISPLAYS. LET'S SEE YOURS.
As requested Madmarco. Top are my balisongs (old photo as I’ve gotten a lot more since), middle photo are some of my favorite high end folders (Gerber, Ontario, Spyderco, Benchmade, SOG, Cold Steel, Puma, Boker, Opinel, Kershaw, CRKT, Victorinox, Buck and Old Timer), and bottom photo is some knives my uncle gave to me.

I've posted these before but for those who may not have seen them here is the inside of my 24 drawer typographer's cabinet and my 12 drawer cigar box that houses my smaller knives.
