Nice batch there, Cody!cody6268 wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 1:26 pm And there's still several I left out (about ten). This was just what was on-hand. These range from bargain bin specials (Kabar 3189, Bear Hunter, Nite Ize, Stone River Gear/Stihl), to budget FRN models made in USA (Gerber, Camillus, Schrade, Buck), to the standard Buck, to everyone's clones of it from the '70s-present. No offense, but I think the Browning Sportsman and Gerber Folding Sportsman II are better done.

Re: In praise of single blade lockbacks...
If there is a rational reason to ban lock backs and fixed blades from carry, I assume it's because if the knife is going to be used in a criminal manner, the person using it as such would want the blade to lock or be fixed.Ridgegrass wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 1:02 pm Somebody, with any level of intelligence, explain to the world any rational reason at all for banning a knife that locks back ????? Anyone using a knife to commit a crime probably isn't going to use a slip joint. And certainly not a 3 inch closed slip joint.
Criminals will carry their knives illegally anyway but I assume this is the rationale behind this law.

Re: In praise of single blade lockbacks...
Several years ago a good friend told me this story. He was stopped at a stop light in the older part of a town in our region and noticed two obviously drunk men having an argument. One of them gave the other fellow a little push. A few seconds later he had fallen to the ground, inert. The pusher had pushed the pushee with a pen knife with maybe a 2 or 3 inch blade which went slightly into his heart. Dead. America is a violent country, but the instruments of violence have almost nothing to do with it, and regulating them is utterly ineffective. It is all about the culture, about attitudes.

True, Tongueriver. If it hadn't been a knife it would have been a stick or a rock. Criminals will be criminals.

Saw a great cartoon years ago. Two cavemen looking at a gnarly club with saber teeth embedded in the head. One says to the other,"Just pray to God we never have to use it!"
If I remember correctly, switchblades were outlawed just after the movie, "Blackboard Jungle" where Vic Morrow pulled a switcher on Glenn Ford in the classroom. (Not saying one caused the other but.....) Now spring assists are 5 times faster than on old Presto.
I'm rambling, just disgusted with the "gubment". Over and out! J.O'.

Beautiful collection of lockbacks Kerry. I've never been a fan of knives with more than 1 blade, so S/B/L/B's are one of my favorites, and I own a bunch of em'. And I'm with GSPTD regarding your Kershaw folder, I've wanted one of those for ages but their still high prices have so far kept me at bay. You sure own some nice ones!toomanyknives wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 2:21 am So, i was thinking that I must like single blade lockbacks... There are a few more around here somewhere.... "Banning" involves government, therefore intelligence, and reason do not enter into the equation at all.

Re: In praise of single blade lockbacks...
Knife7nut: I had a Samuel Wragg dirk that was very similar to your Greaves. It was in "relic" shape too, one scale etc. but a perfect blade. A dealer friend sold it for me 25 years ago at a show somewhere in New England for BIG bucks. Not braggin', just happy. J.O'.
