As I recall there was a Kershaw 10X0 series and I had the fixed blade version....and I traded it off to a buddy... who moved out of state...

About 10 ? years ago Rough Rider made a variety of lockbacks and they are very good knives. I have quite a few. Zero blade play & sharp.
You have a top notch collection. There are so many different lockbacks it could be the focus of a huge collection, at least a few thousand knives.

That's a awesome collection I've a few kickbacks including a gifted Buck 110 from this very group , my second knife I owned as a kid was a copy of a buck 110 so always had a thing for them , sadly one of the uk laws is no lock so rarely carry one unless camping, but I carried my 1973 puma game warden 970 yesterday , I had a 1980 puma cadet but i gifted it to my nephew when he joined the RAF 7yrs ago and he still carrys it

Re: In praise of single blade lockbacks...
Somebody, with any level of intelligence, explain to the world any rational reason at all for banning a knife that locks back ????? Are straight, fixed blades banned too????? J.O'.
Re: In praise of single blade lockbacks...
And there's still several I left out (about ten). This was just what was on-hand. These range from bargain bin specials (Kabar 3189, Bear Hunter, Nite Ize, Stone River Gear/Stihl), to budget FRN models made in USA (Gerber, Camillus, Schrade, Buck), to the standard Buck, to everyone's clones of it from the '70s-present. No offense, but I think the Browning Sportsman and Gerber Folding Sportsman II are better done.
I just noticed the Stone River Gear is a linerlock. D'Oh!!

Re: In praise of single blade lockbacks...
In the UK the blade has to be under 3inches and non locking to be a legal carry , fixed blades are illegal to carry so they class lock blades as fixed blades, if camping etc and if you have good reason to carry then a fixed blade and lock knife is okRidgegrass wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 1:02 pm Somebody, with any level of intelligence, explain to the world any rational reason at all for banning a knife that locks back ????? Re: In praise of single blade lockbacks...
If there is a rational reason to ban lock backs and fixed blades from carry, I assume it's because if the knife is going to be used in a criminal manner, the person using it as such would want the blade to lock or be fixed.Ridgegrass wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 1:02 pm Somebody, with any level of intelligence, explain to the world any rational reason at all for banning a knife that locks back ????? Anyone using a knife to commit a crime probably isn't going to use a slip joint. And certainly not a 3 inch closed slip joint.
Criminals will carry their knives illegally anyway but I assume this is the rationale behind this law.

Re: In praise of single blade lockbacks...
Several years ago a good friend told me this story. He was stopped at a stop light in the older part of a town in our region and noticed two obviously drunk men having an argument. One of them gave the other fellow a little push. A few seconds later he had fallen to the ground, inert. The pusher had pushed the pushee with a pen knife with maybe a 2 or 3 inch blade which went slightly into his heart. Dead. America is a violent country, but the instruments of violence have almost nothing to do with it, and regulating them is utterly ineffective. It is all about the culture, about attitudes.

True, Tongueriver. If it hadn't been a knife it would have been a stick or a rock. Criminals will be criminals.
