Winchester knife patterns
I've got a Winchester W 15 2978 Doctor's knife, at least that's what the box names it, but the knife itself is stamped 2078. It's labeled as "Blue Crushed Velvet" and that's what the handle material looks to be, it's a Doctor's style with a spear main blade and pen smaller blade instead of a flat spatula. I cannot find one like it elsewhere, the 2978 models I find with other handle materials have a shield or "Winchester" within a shield on one of the handles, this one just an oval. I bought it new, it's stamped '92, and this is the way it came to me---back then I was buying from Smokey Mountain Knife Works a lot, I believe that's also where I got the Case 7110L I inquired about a few years back. Appreciate any help.

That's the Black Box Series. I have a 2978 Doctor's knife that is from 1989.

It's in a black box, but marked 2078 vs. 2978 and an oval plate instead of the shield shown on yours.
