Nickel silver, also called German silver or white brass contains no silver at all. Nickel silver is an alloy of mostly copper with nickel and sometimes a little tin. It turns green with time due to the copper content.

Thank-you. I got curious and I'm sure there are other members who did not know what's in the alloy.

Some bolsters are "iron" (steel) on old knives. I've seen copper too, and brass on folding hunters like Buck 110's. J.O'.

I read the question as being “what’s in the alloy nickel silver?”. Here’s what I was referring to when I referenced Google. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel_silver
