Nice collection, and the important thing is to collect knives that you enjoy. ::nod::

Nice collection with great pics. Part of the enjoyment of the hobby
is showing your knives to others and talking about them.

Have I been laboring under a misconception? I thought the Colonial was called a "Life Raft Knife". Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Wanted one for a long time. Finally last year, I acquired one in very good condition from Scott.
I enjoyed cruising your pile. Thanks for showing it.

The life raft knives I’m aware of had blunt tips and float.

The Colonial was a pilot survival knife. The saw has fine teeth to cut through wreckage. There were at least 2 different teeth on the blades. They were also made by and marked UNITED G.R. Mich.

Some have bails. They were stored in green canvas sheaths. The flap had a hole for the bail. Beretta make a leather pouch that will work as a sheath.

Not my picture but it shows the bail and the USN pouch.

Thank you for the correction. I appreciate it.

Edit: Did a little more research and ran across this post on the U.S. Militaria Forum ---► https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums ... ack-knife/

It appears that the proper name for the knife is "Jiant-Jack-Knife" (yes spelled with a 'J' instead of a 'G').

Looks like you have a nice pre-WW2 Western States in the picture with the swords. The one with a red stripe in the guard.

Nothing to be ashamed of at all, nice group of knives. Never let anyone tell you what to collect, that is a personal decision.

Some of my favorite knives are ones that most would not consider to "collectible".

I am also liking that Colonial. Not practical for everyday carry, but maybe thats what makes it so cool.

Cool collection, GordonJohn. Just the kind of stuff I always stop to look at when I am at a gun show.
