New member saying "Hi"!
Hi guys and gals! My name is Mark, and I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba/Canada. I AM ADDICTED TO KNIVES! I'm currently retired, and spend all my time searching and researching all kinds of knives! My true passion lies with autos, although, I have recently been introduced to Japanese manual folders by one of the members on this site, and am discovering just how beautiful those pieces are. I have had a fascination with autos since I was 6 yrs. old, when I saw one on TV and asked my Mom "what's that"? Living my entire life in Canada where autos are STILL strictly prohibited has made acquiring them difficult, BUT, not impossible. My current collection numbers about 160 pieces, including, 23 autos, about 25 bowies and daggers, and around 110 usual and unusual manual folders, along with 8 more on the way, and this has all happened in just the last year. My biggest problem at the moment is finding the display pouches that I store my collection in, since lately they haven't been available. I guess I'll either have to find a supply of pouches, or, quit collecting! Take a wild guess at which way I'll go! Well, that's it, I just wanted to introduce myself, and tell you a bit about who I am! Please stay safe everyone, and happy trails!

Welcome to AAPK! As I’m sure you discovered we like pictures of knives, so don’t be bashful about showing yours. There’s a dedicated subforum for automatics aka switchblades, mand another for fixed blades.. BTW the best storage pouches I’ve found come from Sackups brand and are available on-line, and shipped to your door.

to AAPK Madmarco!
Sounds like you have been bitten by the bug! If you can't find the display folders you might have to resort to what some of us ol' rednecks use, cigar boxes and grocery bags.

Re: New member saying "Hi"!
Thanks for the warm welcome Ken and TF! I will definitely post some pics when time permits, I have some real beauties that I don't think too many folks have seen before. Thx for the tip on the pouches as well Ken. And TF, if it comes down to it, I will be able to use a different pouch that is available, I was just trying to use the same one that I already have 5 of, since I wanted them all to match. Good tip though, thx!

Welcome to AAPK Mark.
It was actually the below pictured Henckels Automatic that I purchased from a friend many years ago that got me into full steam knife collecting.
Here in California, we have the same restrictions on Automatic knives as you do in Canada.
However, I have a few that I have been able to obtain over the years, mostly "Schrade."

Sorry taking so long to reply guys, and I don't even have a good excuse! Thanks to all for your warm welcomes! I've posted my autos and fixed blades in the appropriate threads, and just today started to post my manual folders, so if you haven't seen them yet take a look, I think you'll like some or all of them! Thanks again, Mark!

Re: New member saying "Hi"!
Thanks again Dan! I don't know if you've looked at my posts in the "Switchblade Knife Collector's Forum" in the link "Some of My Autos", or, in the "Fixed Blades Forum" in the link "Some of Mine", or, in the "European and Other Foreign Manufactured Knives Forum" in the link "My Manual Folders", but if you haven't you might want to take a look cuz you'll see some pretty nice pieces, not all of them, but some. I've pretty much exhausted the first 2 until I get more, but the last one I just started posting a couple of days ago, and I have close to 100 more to post, so you might find some of those interesting as well! BTW, I really like that Henckels auto you showed me, with that brand I'm sure you have one quality automatic knife, and although you've had it for awhile, congrats! Also, I don't think I've ever seen a Schrade auto, if you have pics would you mind posting a couple? Thx, Mark!
